Following the refusal of governors of the South-east states to implement the Federal Government/ASUU agreement, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has called on the National Universities Commission (NUC) to revoke licenses of state universities in the region. At a news conference in Ibadan Monday, the chairman of the ASUU at the University of Ibadan, Dr. Ademola Aremu, who spoke on behalf of chairman of ASUU, Ibadan zone, Professor Akin Ajisegiri, expressed dismay at the display of tribal sentiment by Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, who allegedly asked that ASUU/South-east governors parley be conducted in Ibo language. Aremu called on the NUC to sanction the states for consistently disrupting the academic calendar. He maintained that university education is universal and its running should not be subjected to tribal sentiment and politics of federalism. The call by governor Peter Obi that ASSU/S-EAST parley be conducted in Igbo,would be wrong if others present do not understand Igbo.that does warrant the call by Dr.Ademola Aremu for revocation of the permit of the all the state universities in the zone.It is Aremu, who should be charged for tribalism.if the alleged statement were made by a South- West governor,would he make such call.All the universities in nigeria are run on the altar of tirbalism.Dr.Aremu, after late Professr K.Dike,when l did a non-yoruba person made the of VC Ibadan, non-igbo UNN,non-hausa ABU etc.To the s-east govts, it is shameful and disgraceful,the y cannot adhere to agreements |

nice one i jus belive dat befor nest year decemba dem go calloff d strike and u no d funniest ASSU will raise anoda issuuee and go for anoda strike afta all dis one hav bin solv dis country is jus a useles country is it only wen ASUU strike til govenment giv dem wat dem want dere should b oda ways to solve matter than jus going on strike 4 years cours u do it for 7 years and we student waist our time and the lecturers still get for those month they went for strike we d student are who sufer it most |
