Nigeria has been amalgamated since 1914, yet the country is rife with tribal nationalism/sentiments; indeed many African Countries are barely managing to keep it together.

It is therefore radically untenable to expect that a mass migration of foreigners into a tribal Country such as SA recently emerging from centuries of oppression by foreign nationals would not be met with resistance, indeed it is to their credit that these form of violence (xenophobia) took this long to erupt.

Some people have called for the Nationalization of SA owned businesses as a deterrent and retaliatory act, this is an unwise and premature call; Nationalizing foreign businesses is a horrible idea! It could result in a tit-for-tat affair; it sets a bad precedent and will ultimately deprive Nigeria of much needed FDI.

This madness will blow over.

Nationalization must only be invoked as a weapon of last resort, I daresay only in instances of outright declaration of war or genocide. The way it is, only a diplomatic solution will suffice.

Nigeria should adopt the Chinese model by establishing a sort of Little Nigeria in SA; This will reduce the incidence of xenophobic interactions and only Southies interested in being friends with Nigerians will come there.

For now, Nigeria must immediately commence evacuation of all willing nationals; Nigeria must coordinate with the SA Government in criminalizing all incidences of xenophobic related violence and if issues degenerates any further then anti riot police should be co-opted to assist regular law enforcement.

An institute for dialogue and inter-ethnic studies must also be established to facilitate cross cultural understanding.

Cool temper everyone

Little Nigeria, Nigeriatown or Nigeriaville sounds like a good idea.

However, evacuation must be necessary in times of tension.
