How many people know that the Azubuike Owoh that General Muhammadu Buhari executed in 1985 for drug peddling was the younger brother of the Nollywood Actor, Nkem Owoh?

The Actor himself said several years later that he and his family would never forgive Muhammadu Buhari for what they saw as the judicial killing of their relative.

Arrested at the Ikeja International Airport, their transit point, he was executed with two other accused. The government retroactively sentenced these three Nigerians citizens in December 1984:
1) Bartholomew Azubike Owoh, 26, a former employee of the Nigeria Airways,

2) Lawal Akanni Ojuolape, 30, a spare parts dealer, and

3) Bernard Ogedengbe, a 29-year-old sailor.

Despite the pleas that the law under which they were sentenced had not been in place at the time they committed the offence, the Buhari government shunned an international outcry for clemency and retroactively carried out their execution by a firing squad on 10th April 1985 at Kirikiri Prisons, Lagos.
