On Thursday, Apple has rolled back privacy rules related to the apps for children which were originally announced at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June.

According to the rules, the app developers are not allowed to use external analytics software for the children’s app to collect detailed information about who is using the app and the developers can’t even display the ads on these apps.

apple kids app roll backAccording to Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, changes were the result of complaints from parents, but developers of apps for children outraged about these rules and said that it would hurt their ability to make money and improve their products.


On Thursday, Apple amended these rules to allow developers to use analytics software “in limited cases,” provided the services don’t collect or transmit personally identifiable information about children.

Under the revised rules, advertising will be allowed, as long as it has been vetted for appropriateness.
