what joy does this sadistic old man derive from punishing Nigerians since 1984. The painful part of it is that he has millions of "suffering and smiling " fools as supporters.

They must, I mean MUST make sure the price gets to 50k before the end of September. We must all enjoy this ride together while we eat that local rice mixed with stones and gravels which Hameed Ali himself doesn't know how it taste

A bag of Cotonou rice is 21k

A bag of Naija rice is N17k

The borders should remain closed!

Nigerians are funny people. You want development but want to keep supporting the economies of neighbouring countries, who keep dumping substandard products in Nigeria, through smuggling, at the expense of local production, our economy, and health.

This should be sustained. Nigerian farmers, traders and consumers are eventual beneficiaries.

Why won't govt subsidize local rice to sell for 8K to 9K so that rice won't become a gold to the common man in Nigeria. If subsidize it will discourage smuggling and at same time encourage local farmers.

lol subsidize with which money? grin grin grin grin

You cannot even pay minimum wage. You are talking about an humongous subsidy. Besides, subsidy does not necessarily encourage local production, as seen in the case of petrol. Did you know that since the borders were closed, there's a sudden drop in the volume of petrol lifted at the depots, for which government had been paying subsidy?! that tells you government had been subsidizing petrol smuggled out of Nigeria through these borders.

Closing the border will increase demand for local rice and others, which will boost local production. Smugglers will divert their funds to local production. You and I can imagine the positive effect of this on our economy.

No. Any form of subsidy is subject to abuse in Naija. Once local production is enforced, competition will later bring down prices. It happened in Telecoms.

You no know nothing, Jon Snow.

You bloody socialists are the reason this country can never develop.

No country has ever attained true development through protectionism.

A bag of locally produced rice is 17k and you are celebrating while foreign rice was 8k when GEJ left.

Closing border will not solve anything. People will smuggle the rice and make it more expensive.

Progressive nations use taxes to discourage consumption but our dead wood president thinks is by closing border.

i wanted to reply that guy you qouted but i could already tell that he reasons through his anus. You just told him the best way buhari could have handled this. Increase tax on imported rice.
Buhari has vowed to punish nigerians and the zombies are included. Just imagine that guy happy that he bought rice for 17k. Nonsense.

Just imagine, 17k for local rice.

That is how far their dead wood hero has killed the nation.

Buhari is just pure wicked. He wants to develop the local sector and he is busy imposing new taxes on online transactions and VAT.

Who does that?
