Court Vacates Forfeiture Order On Okorocha’s Properties by Timer01: 9:03pm On Sep 13, 2019
A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt Rivers State has vacated a forfeiture order secured by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) on some properties belonging to former Imo Governor Rochas Okorocha and some members of his family.

The anti-graft agency had early this month obtained the court’s orders for the interim forfeiture of assets traced to the former governor, his wife, Nneoma Nkechi and their daughter.

The properties are: “a 16 – block 96 – flat structure and an eight – bungalow multimillion naira estate, hotel, two schools, shopping plaza, supermarket, hospital and four vehicles.

“The same were known to those close to the state as, East High College, East High Academy, Willowood Hotel, House of Freeda, Dews of Hope hospital and Market Square Supermarket.”

The commission in an earlier statement said it would like to know how Rochas Foundation and “other accomplices” acquired and or converted some of the property for personal use.

It alleged that a prima facie cases had been established against the suspects, which they would answer to.

Vacating the Order, the presiding Judge, Kolawole Omotoso, lifted the forfeiture order on some of the properties especially the schools to enable students to resume for the new academic year.

The court however made another Order restraining the respondents (Okorocha and family members) from selling any of the properties pending the conclusion of investigation by the EFCC.

The development followed the submission by Okorocha’s Lawyer, Okey Amaechi, that the forfeiture order displayed on the school gates would negatively affect resumption of academic activities in the new session, insisting that parents would be discouraged to register their children and wards in the schools.

Meanwhile the EFCC had asked the Court to exclude two of the properties earlier listed in the forfeiture order after it was discovered that they were not owned by the former governor or any of his family members.

Kangaroo country. Without formal legal procedures and processes, you want someone to forfeit their supposed assets

Well, I would have said the students should look for another school but....

It is of utmost importance that all fees paid by the students are remitted into the Imo State government accounts.

Imo must recover all it lost in the maladministration of the last eight years!!

But the order on restrictions for sale, is still a welcome development.

Okoroawusa must return our yams. Goodbye to familiocracy and lootocracy of our state heritage.

Those properties are the ones we know
What of the ones we do not know about
Truth is this people have amassed a lot of wealth that will last up to their seventh generation

The school can still remain open to students while the EFCC sorts out it's ownership.
No excuse must be established to enable elected officials use govt funds to build their private businesses, then rum to court in future to establish ownership.

Which are these 2 properties and who are the purported 'real' owners.
The EFCC should furnish us with these information and let concerned individuals do their own independent verification.
Just like in the case of Dimipreye Silva,Abdullahi Goje, something fishy has started brewing and it may end up with waking up one day to hear that the EFCC has suddenly discovered that all of the properties it hitherto seized from Okorocha and family were actually not theirs solely but those of unnamed "trustees" and is therefore returning them
This is how they lay the groundwork when they want to allow looters maintain their loots after some form of "settlement".

This isn't proper...
We saw them cleaning off their paint off a building In Lagos they once claimed belongs to Fayose and they were wrong...
Where's the intelligence in this type of Operation.?
Whoever own those 2 properties would've spent money, time, prayer, dey fasting, ritual and all on something that has absolutely nothing to do with him..

The Nigerian Judiciary and its corrupt practices: Any country without an incorruptible, independent, fair and just judiciary is a failed state. Buhari or any other "ruler" at that can claim to fight corruption all he wants but he would NEVER succeed as long as the judiciary is broken. If you look around the world, any country that's actually working MUST have a strong and independent justice system that holds all citizens accountable for their misdeeds including those in power. So, if Buhari or any other person truly wants to fight corruption, he must start with the judicial system.

It's like some idiooots who want all government universities in Imo state to be in Owerri telling us that someone would put his One Naira as part owner of Eastern Palm University started from scratch as government state university. No sane person would put his/her one Naira into that..

But what has Ihedioha government done with that Eastern Palm University?
