Nigeria has lost over $1.3 billion worth of crude oil to theft and pipeline vandalism, in the First Quarter of the year, Igbere TV reports.

This was disclosed by Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, at the end of today's National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

Recall we had reported about the NEC meeting which was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, with top government functionaries in attendance.

Addressing journalists at the end of the meeting, Obaseki warned that “if the situation is not arrested immediately, losses could be as much as $2.7bn by the end of this year.”

Meanwhile, the National Executive Council (NEC) has voted for the implementation of the recently suspended National Livestock Plan.

Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, who disclosed this during today's NEC meeting, said a budget of N100 billion was proposed for the implementation plan.

He said that the federal government would bear 80 per cent of the N100 billion, while participating states would support with the balance of N20 billion and land for the programme.
