Tinubu no be Agbero?
safarigirl:
There is nothing wrong with MC Oluomo speaking in his capacity as the Chairman of NURTW, nothing. He is not going there as an APC henchman, he is going there as a leader of a union that has something to contribute to the discussion on ground.

Not everything should be an opportunity to be up in arms.

I still don't know why his invitation should cause chaos. So far he is a stakeholder who understands the transport system in Lagos. Even if he had attended the event, does it change the fact that he can also proffer solutions to the endemic transport problem? He has a first hand knowledge about transport in Lagos as such he is in the pole position to talk. Those screaming morality are even worse than him. We should always overlook the messenger but consider his message which is the pivotal thing. Thanks.
You can also take your siblings to him to learn it first hand under him
Maybe Evans should also be called as a successful kidnapper to speak on the advantages and disadvantages of kidnapping in Nigeria and why it should be spoken about by him to student in learning environment.
When they say what you do now may affect you in future people like you didn't understand it.
If he's really a role model and has done well I doubt there will be any issue like this revolving around this.
Maybe he should start with talking to his fellow thugs in Oshodi

A union that as far as i am concerned, their only contribution to transport in Nigeria is extorting motorists of funds they don't even remit wholly to the government and violence whenever they want to fight for who controls which park. I still would have loved for him to have attended that lecture to at least know what he would have said
that is your opinion.

Even at that, they exist and they are a vital of the Lagos transport system. MC Oluomo is their leader, he should come and tell those students why they extort money from drivers and are a menace to society. He should break down how the organization works, why they need those funds, who it is going to, how it benefits the Lagos Stage Government and even the transport workers.

He is there for educational purposes and should be allowed to fulfill it, without people's sentiments, clouding the whole thing.

An agbero that allegedly has been fingered in the death of many of his colleagues

Agbero that went on record to state that he'd mobilize to destroy certain politicians if they stepped foot in kwara.

Agbero that was on video celebrating successful rigging in Ekiti state.

Etc...

Such a person as special guest at an educational programme in a citadel of learning?

In the highest of institutions in the country and you wonder why students and graduates would decide to pick up crime-related activities?
This country is at near-ruin.

Stop celebrating mediocrity and wrong values!

Yes, Its not new for people of questionable character to be invited guests at higher institutions, even in the US. However, the public outcry would still be there and if the school authorities see it as a legitimate reason to pull such people off, they do, just like Unilag has done.

I hope i did not use any harsh words here, apologies if i did. Thank you

The main issue here is that most of our people are educated illiterates who barely understand the meaning of education and more importantly the meaning of "university". As long as it happened, it could be studied and this leads to better understanding and efficient basis for solutions.

Is 'NURTW' a real issue in Lagos? What are the impacts and who are the principal actors? Are they aware of the damage they are doing to the general development of the economy? Why have they adopted their approach to unionism? Are there outside political influences and how could those be curtailed? What are the roles of the police in all these? Hard questions that a union henchman cannot use his touts to suppress in a University environment, different from an interview from a brown envelope journalist or hungry blogger, and may surprisingly open his mind to a different way of seeing things and lead to accurate research publications that could be used by policy makers to address an issue that directly affect the lives of everyday Nigerians. This is not a celebration but a university doing what a university does. Learning and research. Opportunity lost.

....going by this shithole logic we can also argue that the herdsmen terrorizing people are also experts in cattle rearing and should be allowed to operate. Same way the criminal who has mastered using a gun is a specialist in using guns and should be given salary and a free pass. Boko haram too are experts in religious knowledge and should be celebrated.

Which mess are u talking about because learners wants to learn about the events going on in the transport industry then automatically it becomes a crime you must check your reasoning very well.

But is the struggle for control of motor parks any different from that of politicians who struggle to control our national resources? NURTW is as old as many unions in Nigeria and Lagos transport system is one of the biggest and most organised as far as this country is concerned.
