Ekwesili has already expressed doubts about this economic group to perform due to Buhari pseudo socialist leanings and his Statist views.

Buhari core control policies probably constitutes 80% of the reason why the Nigerian economy is stuck in a quagmire of disgraceful economic growth since he assumed office. He is bound to frustrate them

I find the statement attributed to Mr. Dangote that Nigerian economy will blossom not surprisingly laughable. What economic indicators such as GDP, CPI, PPI, CES, etc are the basis for him to make such a bold assertion? Just because he relishes having a monopoly on the importation of the most staple of food items in Nigeria is absolutely no reason to be that bullish about the country's economy. Yes, Nigeria's nominal GDP is slightly north of $390 billion- largely because of it's population, but inflation is at a double digit... north of 11%. The mere formation of an Economic Advisory Council alone is not by itself enough to move the economy in the upward trajectory, The council must be able to come up with sound economic policies which must be implemented by the government and not just constituting a body as a means to reward political supporters. But we know in Nigeria that any committee or council that has ever been set up by the government always end up moribund with nothing to show for it other than the enormous financial cost to the nation. I am usually a very optimistic...the glass is half-full kind of a person, but when it comes to the Nigerian government and its handling of anything especially the economy, all bets are off. I hope I am proven wrong.

A most shameful statement.
Sadly you do not fully understand the ramification of what you are saying.
Never tie the economic recovery of a nation to a single mortal being.

Well said Alhaji Dangote but let me say that all these sugarcoated words or the formation of a supervisory committee on the Nigerian economy have no positive impact on the economy..... They are all face saving strategies. what the FG really needs is to make longterm industrial policies that will catalyze local manufacturing of high quality consumer goods ........ not increasing taxes, tariffs and VAT........
Engage the best economists from all parts of the world to handle our economy they will be rendered useless working with Mr I-am-fighting-corruption ... he is just there with no clear-cut practical policies (Tinubu rightly said "Leave Buhari In a room with an amount of money on the table, you will come back to find the money untouched)
I suffice to say that we need trustworthy leaders but it should be trustworthy leaders with a working knowledge of all it takes to handle the economy of the biggest black nation on earth......
Nigerians want real practicable solutions not just vain words....
