Dear Members,
I happen to be one of the many Nigerians who has decided to ignore JAMB and its entire system. I found myself in one of the schools of LUTH, Idi-Araba namely School of Health Information Management. I swear it is one of the bestest courses so far in this country. It is not widely known like other selling courses purely due to the lagging of technology in the country but as Nigeria improves techologically, it is promising.

All the teaching institutions in the country offer this lucrative course but the problems it is facing is non-recognition and we hope the government does something about this. Its merits are numerous and I recommend this site for more information as regards this course: www.ahima.org

I  just started this course and I bet y'all, its a very interesting course bound with opportunities. Its a bank of crude-oil!

Very happy for you, Igoh. What kind of job or business opportunities are available to graduates of this Health Information Management course in Nigeria?
Re: Nigeria & Health Information Management by VikDouglas: 9:57pm On Apr 30, 2011
@Ighojob you must have graduated by now.
Health Information management is highly recognised and regulated in Nigeria. Admission is through JAMB; a 1yr compulsory IT and service (NYSC) on completion of d 5yr course (including IT) - 6yrs to complete.
The course is very interesting and challenging (looking at course contents), depending on how you approach studies, and especially if you're a lover of mathematics and IT.

However note that studying HIM widely encompasses knowledge in Management and administration, computer Sc., Anatomy and physiology, Data management, records mgt, clinical Coding, heavy mathematics and statistics course works.

If you want to stand out, pursuing professional competency in Database Administration, Data Analytics or Data Science, Computer programming, computer networking, information security will be highly valuable and desirable by potential employers, as we're quickly moving in the informatics direction today. Else, you'll be just another degree holder with no competencies.

Goodluck!

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT: CAN YOU SAVE PA ALEX?

Pa Alex, 60 was hosting his daughter’s wedding reception. A typical Nigerian, he was determined to make the most of the opportunity and he sweated out his rotund frame on the dance floor gyrating and spraying currency on his baby. Then all hell broke loose. He collapsed. In the commotion that ensued, he slipped away silently...

Help save Pa Alex at http://www.primerhealth.com.ng/2014/10/basic-life-support-can-you-save-pa-alex.html?m=1
