Academic qualification

Strong knowledge of Macroeconomics, Finance and Econometrics
MSc – Economics/Finance/Econometrics/Quantitative Economics (Distinction/Merit/65% or 4/5 or 3.5/4)
PhD Student – Research must be in Macroeconomics, Finance or Econometrics


Skills and Experience Required

Serious, verifiable evidence of research experience. To us, the best evidence of research experience is a list of published papers in decent Economics and Finance journals. The more published papers, the better. We generally do not accept undergraduate thesis as evidence of publication. Well-executed MSc thesis or other empirical or model-based papers are welcome.

Exceptional, top writing skills

Strong knowledge and experience in Time Series, Cross-Section and Panel Econometrics

Time Series – Apart from standard regression, we expect a strong experience in VAR/SVAR/VECM/ARDL/DOLS/FMOLS/CCR and many others
Panel Data – FE/RE/GMM/Diff-in-diff

Decent knowledge of using STATA/EVIEWS/R/MATLAB etc for econometric analysis. At least one of these.


What is Expected of You

Must have passion for research to overcome the inevitable highs and lows that come with completing rigorous research projects under tight deadlines
Support senior researchers in bespoke tasks, including proofreading and data gathering
Be available to respond to emails very quickly at all times from our senior researchers around the world
Have a computer, internet service and electricity, via NEPA or generator, to work from home and deliver high quality work. No blaming of electricity
Must be ready always to work from home or from our new research laboratory at the University of Lagos
Willing to apply for visa to attend conferences in Africa, Asia, Europe or America when the need arises


Compensation

Monthly net salary in the range of 55K – 100K Naira, depending on experience.
Full salary will be paid only if all research and work-related expectations are met. For instance, writing research papers and supporting our researchers around the globe
Discretionary bonus of 200K per year if you exceed expectations in all months of the year
One-time support of $200 for GRE and $200 for TOEFL to those who have good MSc degrees and wish to pursue a PhD in North America. We also provide as many letters of recommendation as possible to our best research assistants
Sick leave allowance of up to 200K Naira per year

This is position requires immediate hiring of the appropriate person. The minimum qualification is an MSc plus research experience in Economics and Finance. A PhD is a plus (minimum salary of 150K per month). We are generally interested in applicants who work hard, are bright, can do rigorous research and can continue to "fight" research and not give up easily.
