28-year-old father, Temitope Ajayi, on Monday, 23rd of September,2019 appeared before a Magistrates’ Court in Ado-Ekiti for assaulting his 4-year-old son.

The defendant, Timitope Ajayi with unknown address, is being tried on a one-count charge of assault.
A report from NAN said that the prosecutor, Sgt. Olubu Apata, told the Magistrates’ Court that the Temitope Ajayi committed the assault on Sept. 18, 2019 at Ilupeju-Ekiti. He alleged that his neighbour reported the matter at the police station.

Sgt. Olubu Apata made it known to the court that the Temitope Ajayi assaulted his own 4-year-old son just because he defecated on his body. He also made it known that the defendant beat up the 4-year-old boy and inflicted injuries all over his body.
He said that the offence contravened Section 355 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

The prosecutor urged the Magistrates’ court to remand the accused, Mr. Temitope Ajayi in prison to enable him to study the case file and the witnesses at the next hearing.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him, but his counsel, Mr. Gboyega Abiola commended the court to grant Temitope bail in the most liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Kehinde Awosika, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until Oct. 24 for hearing.
