Mpcoll001: This is one good question many people here are not asking before calling her a liar or shouting "impossible"!! There are some parts of the country where foodstuffs are very cheap compared to some other parts.. Nairalanders should ask intelligent questions na before eating the lady raw!!

Ijawwomaninoyo: Each for N200 ke? That's the price of 4-5 pieces in Ketu market. No one is going to buy that tiny piece for N200. How can you buy those tiny pieces of ponmo for 1k? Same with the fish (it's actually one of the cheapest classes of dried fish). Onion is N10-20. Maggie (N20 for 2 pieces of knorr chicken, she didn't buy a whole pack). Blended tomatoes/pepper (N100-N200) @ Ketu market. Green leaf (N50) anywhere on the Mainland. Sacket tomatoe (N50-N60) Locust beans (N20) Seems we are over-estimating the sizes of those food items. Na just egusi (1 cup) soup with green leaf for a single lady. Spending over 3k on this kind of meal would be a waste of time and resources. I would rather visit my favourite restaurants. 1 Like |

Re: Lady Shows The Food Items She Bought With N1,500 by Abuloma80(f): 11:07pm On Sep 25, 2019 |
Mutteeme: No need to argue, let's do the maths:- Chicken (half kg @ 1500) = 750 Palm oil (a bottle @ 300). = 300 Vegetables. = 50 Maggi cubes. = 50 Egusi. = 150 Ewedu (Daddawa). = 50 Tomatoes paste. = 50 Fish. = 50 Pomo. = 50 TOTAL = 1,500. That will be soup for at most 3 people (husband, wife and a child) for a meal. A graduate Civil Servant cannot make it, because for 30 days that will cost him N45,000 just soup for one meal. What happened to breakfast and second meal? Let's assume a second meal will be rice and stew. The stew too will cost about that (1,500). For 30 days another N45,000. Break fast for 3 may cost N30,000 per month. Rice, gari, semo, yam, spaghetti, macaroni or similar for 30 days may cost N25,000. Total for basic food N145k. So what happened to TP, Rent, Light not to talk of savings. This is outright slavery. Nigerian pay and cost of living donot match at all. Only God fearing and hard working, that would do a side work to augment his salary can make it. For those that are not would resort to yahoo, fraud or steal from the work place. So over to those who have not started, to start preparing and planning towards such a life in Nigeria. For example go into poultry. Here are conservative figures:- start on a small scale of 300 broilers, with a mortality rate of 10%, average cost of N750 and selling price of N1,200. Margin will be 270 x N450 = N121,500. This is for sure if everything is done correctly. So a graduate mearning N150k + N121 side business may make N271 per month and live a manageable, meaningful and decent life in Nigeria. To survive in Naija no be beans. So think and be prepared. 1 Like |

Abfinest007: In Nigeria of today? that's half kilo of Turkey and it can't be sold nothing less that #600, half kilo of chicken #400, ponmon #200, roasted fish #100, pepper #200. let's leave the remaining items. 600+400+200+100+200= #1500. You see? Sometimes, think every well before you agree on anything or disagree. Good night!! 2 Likes |

Tomato, pepper, and vegetables are quite cheap now. Ponmo too is cheap but the present cost of frozen food is what I'm not familiar with cos I don't eat them. Well, I believe its possible.. Sirmuel1:if oxygen wasnt free then nigerian politicians will be selling the oxygen to the highest bidder .since i have been here i havent witnessed a single power failure their internet network here is very fast.its not like in nigeria u streaming a programme on youtube or any video site and the thing will be hanging .here the internet network goes smoothly plus ur phone calls also go smoothly.the only time i experience network failure when calling is only when i call nigeria .anybody still praising buhari and the politicians and saying they are working need their head examined . 1 Like |
