Feeling sleepy is complaint that plagues many people irrespective of their circumstances. Chronic torpor and inability to focus can make your daily activities time-consuming and difficult to enjoy, poor sleep habits are often the cause of daytime sleepiness. Before you go through any more groggy and crabby days, try these 12 ways to improve nighttime sleep and avoid daytime sleepiness.

Drink more water
Water refreshes and revives tired bodies, Drinking water regularly during day will have you feeling lively in no time. Sometimes those feelings of fatigue are due to basic dehydration. Drink a glass of water as soon as you wake up in the morning to start up your metabolism, and continue drinking several glasses throughout the day.

Regulate your sleep
Establish a regular sleep time and routine. Going to bed around the same time every night allows the body to develop a routine and expect sleep. Try to go to bed at the same time every night, and wake up at the same time every morning. This will help your body to have clear boundaries for when sleep should occur, and reduce your sleepy feelings during the day.

Eat frequently
It is challenging for a body to catch up during the afternoon if you don't eat frequently, rather than sticking to the socially dictated three large meals a day, try to eat 4-6 smaller meals throughout the day. This will keep your blood sugar levels from dropping, and provide your body with more vitamins and nutrients that it needs to stay focused and concentrated.

Get adequate night time sleep
Taking a proper sleep of at least 8 hours in the night can help improve your mental concentration during the day and reduce your sleepy feelings during the day.

Deal with stress
Stress can cause debilitating fatigue and make the simplest activities, such as getting out of bed, too difficult to manage. Managing anxiety-provoking things as they pop up will improve your overall mental health, as well as keep you focused throughout the day.
