The newly appointed Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Enugu State, Mr. Chuks Ugwuoke has rejected his appointment.

According to a source close to the former editor of Vanguard Newspaper, the decision to reject the appointment was based on what he described as political demotion by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

It will be recalled that Mr. Ugwuoke was the former Commissioner for Information in the immediate past government of Barrister Sullivan Chime who tipped Ugwuoke as his successor before Ugwuanyi was drafted in to the governorship race by Chime's former Chief of Staff, Mrs. Ifeoma Nwobodo.

The source said the former Commissioner believed that accepting the offer means belittling himself haven served in higher capacity as commissioner in the state.

Efforts to confirm the report from Mr. Ugwuoke proved abortive as he refused to pick several calls made to his phone number.
