Ebonyi Information Boss Thrills Government Image Makers Ahead of Ebonyi @ 23 Celebrations
Orji Uchenna Orji, the new Commissioner for Information, Ebonyi state has kept to his words of regularly meeting and motivating the information officers in the ministry to ignite better performance.
The Commissioner who on Friday, 27th September, 2019 met with the public Relation officers in state Ministries, Departments and Agencies as well as the Area Information officers covering the thirteen {13} council Areas of the State, shared 'Independence Gifts', which among other things included Textile materials.
Orji used the forum to reiterate his readiness to begin his image making functions from ‘within’ to ensure a team spirited outing in an aggressive publicity of the Engr David Umahi's serial achievements.
He made it clear that the occasions of the 2019 Independence Day celebration and 23 years of the creation of the state were all glorious moment of articulation of myriads of achievements of Umahi's government.
The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr Ken Uhuo had onbehalf of staff and management, earlier thanked the Governor, David Nweze Umahi for deploying a very vibrant and creative Commissioner to the Ministry of Information and State Orientation to add value to the Mandate and statutory functions of the Ministry of Information and State Orientation.
The Ministry on Friday,12/09/19 witnessed the resumption ceremony of Orji Uchenna Orji as Ebonyi State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation.
The new Commissioner was received by the Management and Staff of the Ministry, the State information officers posted to the various MDAs and LGAs, as well as the Government House Corespondents. In his remarks, the new Commissioner said he would launch soonest, the Ministry's comprehensive strategic action plan for the period of 2019- 2023.
He rolled out immediate innovative interventions and reform measures for the Ministry. He said that the Ministry would promote e-governance system of the State that will be robust, seamless and effective.
According to Orji, the information officers at the MDAs and LGAs would drive the e-governance system particularly in Information technology. The Ministry in achieving this would carry out training and retraining of its workforce accros the state to enhance their capacity.
Barr. Orji further stated that there would be monthly reporting system (MRS)by the information officers, whereby information officers would send to the State Information Central Data Base (SICDB), reports including, pictures, visuals and videos of projects and programmes of the MDA's, LGAs/DCs.

The Ministry shall have official Whatsapp account called ' CITY OF DAVID' which shall be strictly for information about the daily project/Programme performance of each MDA and LGA/DC, showing the location and extent of work done, including as it was and as it is
The Ministry will launch official website/portal, Facebook and Instagram accounts which shall be a mirror through which the world shall view the day to day activities of Government.
Further, the Ministry shall engage print and electronic media houses to see areas of collaboration. The Ministry shall launch performance evaluation system and reward system that will encourage hardwork, passion for job and creativity in service delivery. Orji said the information officers would be empowered to equip themselves for the service. Emphasis shall be on developmental journalism.
Orji also charged the information officers to take reportage through documentaries, commentaries, and news items seriously and promised that there would be monthly press briefing to keep the public abreast of the Programmes and projects of Government.

Orji further said that every effort would be made to revive the state Government printing press and make it run purely as a limited liability company. He said the State LEED would be kept busy with private adverts as seen in other advanced countries so as to enhance the revenue profile of the Ministry
Orji Uchenna Orji was until his redeployment, a former Commissioner for Human Capital Development and Monitoring, former Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, former Secretary Divine Mandate Transition Committee on Information & ICT , former Presidential Nominee West African Examination Board (WAEC) , former member International & National Tenders Board, Administrative & Finance Committee WAEC BOARD, former Council member West African Examination Council, former Chief Whip Ebonyi State House of Assembly (EBHA) and Chairman House of Assembly Committee on Justice & Judiciary, and Chairman, Finance and Appropriation, former Chairman, Ebonyi State Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution, former Member, Ebonyi State Committee on Collation of Customary Laws, Pioneer National Vice President, National Association of Ebonyi State Students (NAESS), one time Senior Prefect of former St. John Bosco Campus ( Ishiagu High School). Some of the places he worked included: Law making at Ebonyi State House of Assembly, active legal practice at Marcus Babaoye Chambers,Igbosere Road Lagos Island, chamber attachment at the office of the Honourable Minister of Justice and Attorney- General of the Federation, Federal Secretariat Abuja, Policy Making for WAEC International at the regional levels of the member countries, that is, Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia, Liberia and Sieraleone. He has attended many national and International Conferences, including, Common Wealth Parliamentary Conference, Mpumalanga South Africa, Conference of House of Assembly Speakers and National Assembly for the purpose of review of the 1999 Constitution. Barr Orji has attended many Legal and Legislative Conferences as well as Public Service Reform Conferences. Hon.
