Zaria Transport Institute Can Design Made-In-Nigeria Vehicles — Amaechi by Fariq: 11:38am On Sep 30, 2019

Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transportation says the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) Zaria, has all it takes to design Made-in-Nigeria vehicles.

Amaechi stated this in a statement issued by the Director, Public Affairs, NITT, Mr Paul Mshelizah, which was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Zaria.

Mshelizah said the Minister stated this during a familiarisation and facility tour of the institute in Zaria, Kaduna State during the repositioning retreat by the institute.

Amaechi said: “NITT has all it takes to design a car, I am sure the institute could convince the Federal Government that it has what it takes to design a made in Nigeria car.

“From design, to engine, to body, then funding will not be an issue, we can create patency for NITT.”

The Minister expressed satisfaction with the facilities but called on its management to ensure proper use and adequate maintenance of the equipment.

Amaechi also advised the NITT to seek accreditation from National Universities Commission (NUC), to run certain diploma programmes toward metamorphosing into a full-fledged university of transport and logistics.

The Minister pledged the ministry’s support to help in the creation of more faculties in the institute.

He, however, called for a holistic perusal of the institute’s enabling law to know the scope of its mandate.

That isn't even the mandate of NITT. There is an agency under the ministry of Science and Technology; the Centre for Automotive Design and Development (CADD) that has this mandate which they have not even achieved

Please focus on your Ministry of Transport and leave car design alone


So this is old information

CADD and National Automative Council were merged to form National Automotive Design and Development Council and this is headed by the chap that designed the Chevrolet Volt; Jelili Aliyu. It is now a parastatal under the Federal Ministry of Industry, trade and Investment.

They've been supporting Innoson oga. Which planet are you from? A lot of states and even the FG have paid upfront for vehicles that haven't even been delivered. Go and do your research. Other organizations too need to be supported, not only Innoson. There are other auto manufacturers in Nigeria, they all need support!

All of you uninformed people just come online to rant about what you know very little about.

The only way Nigeria can begin Engine design is through wholesale technology transfer.
That is the only possible way.

I think innoson already said something about getting the tech transfer from his foreign partners very soon.
