Kia unveiled a slightly reworked version of its popular Sportage Compact Crossover SUV. The current Sportage had to be changed only slightly. Nevertheless, the company has reworked its appearance, added additional functional content and introduced a new mid-range trim.

A new steering wheel design and revised ventilation panel decorates the interior. An 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system is now standard and features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto features. The brand's navigation and UVO telematics system and a new wireless smartphone charger are optional.

Kia has added additional driver assistance features to the Sportage option sheet for 2020. Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with Traffic Jam Assist, a monitor for the driver's attention and pedestrian detection are all new features that the Sportage has never offered before. Automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and automatic high beam are included in the driver assistance program for the 2020 model.

External changes are subtle, but improved headlamps and fog lights, a new grille, and front and rear bumpers, a redesigned exhaust tip, and new 17, 18, and 19-inch wheel designs distinguish the 2020 from the current model 2019. The new front lamps similar to the brand's Stinger sports hatch, and the addition of under-ride protection on the underside of the front fairing gives the Sportage a slightly more robust look.

The mechanics of the Sportage will remain unchanged until 2020. Consumers can choose between a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter in-line four-engine or a 2.0-liter turbocharger. Both engines can be equipped with front or four-wheel drive. Both are controlled by a six-speed automatic transmission.
