vingeophysicist:In UK,the government does most of the building. People just pay mortgage and collect fully built houses. Hardly do individuals who know nothing, delve into building of house. As a result, all the houses are same design. Well, our government in Nigeria doesn't do this and people are forced to do everything, buy land, call architect, build house. How much money do you have? Contractor just add sand and the house will fall 1 Like |

Magichand: You need to see the substandard materials and structures these Anambra men build in Asaba. They don’t even call Engineers, they just draw plan from their heads and get old bricklayers to do the work. 1 Like |

vingeophysicist: What more can we say, you've said it all. In Nigeria the norm in issues like this is hardly for investigation to be followed by punishment of the offenders/perpetrators. |

vingeophysicist: The president doesn't do everything you know... Actually, organisations tasked with investigating this kind of thing exists, but our institutions are weak. |

soliddust2020: Can we also see the diligence with which the government follow up such and compel erring builders to comply with best practice or be punished? Obviously such substandard structures won't be built if the perpetrators know very well that government won't tolerate it. |

Magichand:The way you guys jump into conclusion eh! **Anambra buildings** What about the many houses that has been collapsing in Ibadan and Lagos. I'm from Anambra and we've the best buildings when it comes to construction, The problem we've in Anambra state is the type of soil we've here, some areas will just break through your foundation no matter how solid it was built. I remembered when we wanted to start building back home and all plans has been drafted out but the engineer warned about the location that it'll experience erosion in the nearest future so we left the location and use another land for the building. People who build there today leave the building after construction because the building will just start creaking so it depends on your engineer. Look at that pics the location of those buildings are very bad, they could've done something before laying foundation. 1 Like |

I dot know what's wrong with people today, they chose cheap thing even at the detriment of lives. From this clip you can notice the building was substandard using substandard materials, either no enough cement or low quality cement, poor pillars and lintels, the environment is not even conducive to erect a building. Very sad. And he wanted to house some tenants and be charging them hundreds of thousands, thank God it collapsed while uncompleted. |

mindtricks: I think local government is in charge of town planning, they don’t even look at building plans again just give them their fee and you can build as you like. They won’t punish him, all you go hear na “ Eyah e money just waste like that chai, kpele Oga” no investigations the matter will just die like that. |
