Increase the tax of the rich to Carter for the poor. The more richer you get, the higher paid taxes.
that's very wrong and bad.. you want to encourage poverty. if people know the government would forcefully take their wealth away under the guise of taxing because they're richer, they'll either leave the country to elsewhere or won't bothet working hard. Tax everybody equally by percentage.

Why do poor people of the day feel the rich people are the reason they're poor and only want government to take away money from the rich. Don't you want to be rich yourselves?

SE wants to remain but they are not rewarded for being more Nigerian than the loud mouthed one Nigeria unity beggars who are on their way to this thread. Igbo wants equity. They want to aspire to the highest position like the north and the SW, they want good federal roads, airport, rail system like the north and the SW have. They do not want any restriction on the level they can attain in Police, Army, Airforce, Customs, Immigration, Navy, etc, etc. These are the issues SE people want resolved.

Well, I threw in that advice as a sociologist and not as a poor person. That tax system is what is obtainable in the west... If you say it won't work here, good and fine.

If you look at it carefully you can agree with the President. But the question is what is the government doing to correct this anomaly.

I didn't say you are poor, no. sorry if you understood it that way.
But your advice has been what most 'poor' people have also been clamoring for. As for myself am not as wealthy as I want and am seriously working towards that I won't be taxed extra just because I was hardworking and was eventually rewarded for my hardwork... makes no sense to me.

By the way in other parts of the world, I doubt your taxing the rich to help poor is not what is done, in fact american politicians, parties and citizens are seriously fighting this. It makes no single sense at all

These people are already spreading the propaganda that toll gates in South East are more than other regions.

Think about the poverty that will hit South East if Igbo are not allow to stay outside their region.

We are the one doing you a favour by accommodating you because you are nothing but economic migrants and refugee.

So a progressive taxation won't work in Nigeria as it's working in the USA?
The money USA give out to disable people and unemployed people and child welfare services where do u think such money come from?

I didn't mean the govt should take money from the rich and give to the poor perse, that will encourage laziness in this country. I feel some institutions should b put in place to check some certain ish in this society. The system should show more care to its citizens.

So what kinda tax system should work perfectly well in Nigeria? Consumption tax, progressive tax, proportional tax or regressive tax?

The last time I checked, you are the one calling yourselves Biafrans and not Nigerians

Lol Beating Chest on new CBN Policy.

You leave Imo, Enugu and Ebonyi that are all Igbo states to be claiming denominators in Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Kano, and FCT.

What about terminators lol? grin

I expect all Igbo states to be on the list since you keep making noise about how you make the most money.

You are not only the developers but now you are also the denominators. grin

Ogun State IGR alone is more than all the IGR of South East but somehow you are still the one beating chest and making noise.

But Ogun state needed several financial bailouts? Ogun state is cash flow negative, it borrows and spends more than it takes in. It’s one of least financially stable states with huge debt obligations

so communism of all should be chosen in place of capitalism? are you seriously saying this?

have you lived under a communist state before? lots of people whom I've seen lived under such and tried capitalism were never ever singing this your praises. they know better, not a misinformed individual who thinks all is well the other side.

By the way China is not the only communist state in the world... the majority are failures, and China? just chill and watch out... their growth is not by any bullshit communism but by the leverage given to them by the American government some decades ago.. do a little research on that

We are talking China not South Korea, communist government under Mao gave the Chinese people, a new state of mind, and this is why China is a power house today.
Life is NOT about having everything at the expense of others, especially with crude method like we do in this part of the world.
I said it before, that our people are morally and spiritually bankrupt, and can't even think.
People that are well positioned to discourage GREED, are at the for front of the scramble for worldly acquisition.
It is a round table buffet, dragons and lions are standing guards, the system keeps the commoners OUT.
And the commoners who are the victims, are also hoping and praying to rise to the position where they also get to own everything, which is NEVER going to happen as long as the current MOBS are still in charge.
Nigeria may go another way later, but for now I think communism is the way out, which democratically elected government, will rise to set up a communist government?.
The people of this country are in for a long load of hardship until they rise to say a big NO to GREED.
Even if this country is disintegrated and another twenty nation's rise out of her ashes, I don't see anything different happening, the minds are already programmed to acquire, to take and never give anything back.
Just look around you and you will understand what I'm talking about.

No. Not all Nigerians are hypocrite.
The 3 major tribes are defined thus:
Hausa/Fulanis MegaHypocrite
Ibo Difficult
Yoruba Cunning/Crafty

Nigeria can't develop as long as the Hausa/Fulanis are in (charge) government. In fact, Ango Abdullahi in 2014 said that commerce and industry belongs to the south but government is norths'. The north is Happy BCS they understand that the SE & SW do not have a common front. So each time I see d bashing from d SW against SE it pricks my mind. Apart from NYSC, a lot of youth don't travel within naija to know what's happening especially d Yorubas. Let's unit against our enemy. I know them. You know them. We know them

Stop repeating this tired line that Yorubas don't travel, we travelled only to productive places.
Come to the north, you we see yoruba in mass, places like Abuja, Minna, Kaduna, Suleja, Sokoto, jos, kano, Katsina, etc. Go to the Port Harcourt in river state and you will see lots of Yoruba working for the multinationals oil firm.

Yorubas just don't go to the east in large numbers because there is obviously nothing there to do.

Where is the money to create wealth?
We complain about lack of wealth creation when we ourself don't have the know-how to create wealth.

Sanusi has been telling everyone that has hears all along that our population growth is a disaster waiting to happen, we breed too much when we don't have the resources to support a bogus population explosion.

Until we go back to the drawing board and solve many of our social problem of early marriage, almajiri, lack girl child education, polygamous marriages and poor family planning, the poverty rate will continue to rise

The government has probably failed to educate them and then the cause of their poverty is not always their fault smtmes it’s the environment or government policies. Extremists that’s abit more difficult to solve cos it’s very sentimental.

The government have a role to play only when the people are ready to change, Nigeria is one of those few countries that subsidized almost everything, from electricity to education to fuel to the healthcare but he poor are not really ready to take the initiative.

The poor will rather give their money to fake pastors inform of tithe than to pay tax or form a community-based program to solve some of their problems in water distribution, community schools, community hospitals, drainages etc.

The government have a role to play but he society have the biggest role
