The money which comprises were stacked in two fire proof safes during a search conducted in offices of the HOD Accounts and Cashier of INEC, #ZamfaraState.

The money is suspected to be 40% illegally deducted on funds released to INEC Zamfara office to cater for the rent of Canopies, Tables and Chairs and also funds for RAC (Registrpreparation Area Center) and movement of men and materials to Polling Units, by the HOD Accounts & Cashier.

The raid followed a petition by one of the INEC ad-hoc staff during the 2019 presidential and gubernatorial elections in Zamfara State. .

The staff alleged that the Adhoc INEC officials were denied payment of their N6,000 movement allowances each for the two elections. The suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is completed.

This is what angry civil servants see and they want their share.... this is what angry citizens see and they refuse to pay more taxes.

It is time Nigerians wake up and start paying serious attention to the way they are governed. Government cannot come up with endless stories of financial lack and be seeing doing this kind of thing.

There must be thorough scrutiny of the budget and all excess fat trimmed off before they consider asking a beleaguered citizenry to pay more.

How can an agency of government in just one small state be having such amount in raw cash from a budget thoroughly approved by the Legislature. And someone, a suffering citizen will say scrutiny is opposition?....

If the President allows democracy to work then progress can be made. If you pick your child everytime he falls he will take far longer to learn to walk The disruption of the Judiciary and Legislature by the Executuve will not help them develop in good time to strengthen our democracy.

When you permit institutions to fall and then pick themselves up, compete amongst thenselves for good governance then things get done. If for instance the judiciary is slow, politicised, corrupt or caught up in other vices all you need to do is get to the press and make your case before the citizens and allow them deal with the Judiciary.

In developed climes the various arms of government compete and battle it out for supremacy in the court of public opinion. Here the Executive wants to create the other arms of government in its image. This is wrong. Democracy is about the people and for the people. Let the people determine by themselves what is right, wrong and acceptable and by what standards they wish to live.

There are far too many clandestine personal interests and subterranean power plot going on in government that do Nigerians no good.

I have said it timelessly that this country can never be well again unless revolution takes place. Corruption has eaten deep in this country.
