News Nov 7, 2010 … For talks with govs, political leaders

By JIDE AJANI

The Mallam Adamu Ciroma nine-man committee of the Northern Political Leaders Forum, NPLF, in search of a consensus candidate for the North, was billed to meet with some political leaders in the South between yesterday and today, Sunday Vanguard can reveal.

The focus of the meeting would be to brief the southern leaders on the parameters employed by the committee in choosing its consensus candidate.

A source close to the committee said its leaders “would be meeting with political leaders in the geo-political zones in the southern part of the country between Saturday, November 6, 2010 and Sunday, November, 7, 2010.”

“The meeting”, the source went on, “would focus on the imperatives of keeping the southern leaders abreast of developments regarding the wider consultations on the nine-man committee in the three geo-political zones of the North.

“Specifically, the committee would be meeting with the political leaders of the South East geo-political zone, including, possibly, but not limited to the state governors.“The committee would also meet with some political leaders in the South South geo-political zone where members would also hold talks with political leaders.”

The same thing would happen in the South West geo-political zone”, the source said. The NPLF has been working with some leaders in the southern part of the country to forge an alliance with a view to ensuring that whoever emerges as the consensus candidate would be generally acceptable to a larger section of Nigerians public.

Also, such a candidate, it is expected should be able to defeat President Goodluck Jonathan at the polls next April.

Sunday Vanguard was reliably informed that the meeting of the NPLF nine-man committee with leaders in the south is “to prepare them for the announcement of the consensus choice this week”.

It was learnt that the reason the announcement of the candidate is still being delayed is not unconnected with the guidelines
expected to be announced by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, regarding congresses and primaries which would lead to the emergence of the party’s presidential candidate.

Some members of the NPLF are said to be insisting that the group should wait for the announcement of the guidelines before making public the consensus choice while another group is insisting that the name should be immediately announced.

Those insisting on a delay of the announcement are claiming that an early announcement would enable the opposition, in this case the Jonathan camp, to focus attention on the consensus candidate while those clamouring for an immediate announcement insist that once a consensus candidate has been announced, whatever actions taken against such a person would be clearly interpreted by members of the public as a voyage in witch hunt.

Funny bats. It is easy to see their ploy. . . make a lot of noise in the North, then travel South, visiting all strongholds to collect brown envelopes with the promise of maintaining silence.

Nobody should bribe the crabs, instead let them be made a laughing stock by being refused time of day, talkless of being hosted. Even better, invite them, but get office secreteries to host them and tell them off.

This is nonsense. We are not fools. They are looking for "consensus" candidate and not a "credible" candidate because all they know is BY FORCE rule.

The "17 wise men" (Not sure how wise they are) are more interested in being in the media than actually choosing their consensus candidate.

Makes me wonder whether they think their activities are impacting psycologically on Jonathan?

Education has been d strongest weapon for growth, development and human development in advanced nations. Why has education failed to make any meaningful differeneces in d lives and dispositions of many Nigerians? I stil cant figure out what makes so much sense to these 'unwise men'.Trying to read through their opaque minds:

Ciroma:We will choose our candidate, then just inform the south we have chosen our man and they must vote for him and he must win.
Alhaji: What about if d south dont like him?
Ciroma: They must love him, didnt we give them OBJ against his people's wish? Didnt we?
Ciroma: See they cannot take away d political power and dat boy Jonathan is just a minority.
Alhaji cuts in: But he is Ijaw (their oil feed the whole nation)?!
Ciroma: We hav given them 8 years wit OBJ and we hav suffered so much 4 dat. We need our power back.
Alhaji: But Mallam, the North has occupied d position 38 years out of 50 years of d Nations existence?
Ciroma: See we are born to rule them and nothing will stand in our ways come 2011. Thereafter, they will beg for zoning because we never even wanted zoning in d first place.

This ciroma is desperate for a northern presidency. Why come to the south on what concerns ciroma and nplf. If it was to be a general election or campaign for primaries it will be very clear. Its funny. Anyway try on

GBAM. They never have any minds, the Military has been the ones sustening the myth of the North because of the strenght of the population of the North in the Army infantry.

The above is how the North see Nigerians when it come to political power and the President of Nigeria. They are used to referring to GEJ as 'dat boy' when he was the VP and still think he is paper weight but gradually the South is unmasking the mythical North. POWER HAS CHANGED HAND.

The so called North has not done anything for even the Northeren people ( maybe except to bribed them with some monies to go on pilgrimage to HAJJ)

YEYE PEOPLE OF A YEYE GENERATION. OLD FOOLS
