Many times, and most of these times i become sympathetic, i allow the apprentice make all his mistakes when he's done i will go to another barber's shop to get a proper hair cut.

I think apprentice in barber's shop should only cut children's hair so they learn from there.

Continue giving the young man a chance to encourage him. There's always room for improvements.

The funny thing be say, them no dey ever gree say dem no sabi.

Mine was partly my fault because I didn't want to like discriminate against the apprentice.

So I went to a Barber shop and I met the apprentice who happened to be handicapped (has just one hand), I was about leaving and he swore he was very good at it. I asked if he was sure about that and he said yes, I had to sit and when he started I saw he wasn't very good but the deed had already been done so I just let him while I was just upset and didn't even let him shave. My innitial low cut became Shine your head, like complete skull. I was upset but is till paid him and I also had to go to another Barber to perfect it. That was my first time carrying such hair cut.

Would Never make that mistake again, mehn those guys are learners indeed,

I went to write putme exam in unilorin

I was advised by friend to cut my hair before I enter the school gate,that their security guys Sabi disgrace people

So I went to this barber,he told me the price was #150, I was surprised

I clearly told him to bring the hair down few steps,I had afro then, he spent almost 45 minutes in hair reducing the hair,I knew something was up when I saw the look on my friend's face thru the mirror,so I asked the barber to put a mirror behind my head lemme see wetin dey sup,alas this guy don useless my hair the thing look like all these scrawny Lagos rats with peeled skins.

He beg furiously that I shouldn't even pay sef,that he go gimme "small Obama" which one is small Obama,are u alright like dis, Las Las I allowed him Barb my hair skinny

NB: small Obama is the hair style for toddlers, a small portion of hair is left on the frontal part of the head with small parting

Few years back, my best barber was in JSS3 ( A young and experienced boy). He was so good @ giving my desire style. I relegated his boss and promoted him to boost his confidence. And it really worked for him. The painful aspect was that his mom was not financially stable to establish him

Especially when d oga is around and after destroying d life of ur head . apprentice would then call oga to salvage wat is left

When I saw his grasp of the clipper -- feeble and weak, and his strokes, lacking finesse and the dexterity of a professional barber -- I knew I was in for trouble.

15 mins later and he had already given me a hair cut I never knew existed.

He finished and I was still looking like a Wild Animal; a domesticated wild Animal.

He looked at me and I could see guilt written all over his face. He knows.

I wasn't mad at him. Baby steps he was taking. One day, he'll become a pro.

But will I go back to his shop? Not in this life.

The best thing to do is to is to ask them to shape the hair. From there you'll know how good they are, and you can decide to have a cut there after a week.

I've tried it, and it works.

Those apprentices dont know the first step in barbing should be to start learning with neighbourhood childrens heads at no cost. And if they scrable ones head finish they still request for payment

Do you no I just had this experience few minutes ago? Wanted an haircut. The man that owns the place isn't a professional, but had being barbing for some times now. So I already choose who would barb for me among his 6 apprentice. But I was on haste and needed to feed my birds,so I decided to just barb and leave,with the hope he is now very professional, as he just finished with someone's hair. Na so he signal to me,I said no at first,but when I considered the time,I had a change of mind. I requested for afro low cut, by the time he was done,I can't even cry,complain or be sad.

I called his attention telling him what he did isn't good enough, he was even forming boss. Base on the look on my face,he got the message, his boys were even smiling at me...laugh full my belle as I dey type this now self.

I have were I barb for 300 the minimum

I have were I barb for 500 my own maximum

I know some celebrities have were they barb for 16k and above.

The difference is very clear between a haircut at the 500 naira place and the 300 naira place.

And obviously the difference will be much more at an above 16k place. Were they offer head massages, coffee and other refreshments.

My most painful experience is when a barber contrary to my instructions gave me skin cut. This was close to 10years ago. I severely blasted him in his shop among his other guys. The guy refused to barb me after that his boss was the one who took over barbing me

there was this guy that cut my hair one time. he was an apprentice and that was my first time there. the guy said he was from ebonyi state and that was how we were gisting about Dave Umahi while he was spoiling my hair. at the end of the day, me was lookin like all those shop boys that just came from the village.
Till this day, anytime i hear David Umahi or Ebonyi state, i remember that guy

No on the contrary, we wey get receding hairline are difficult to barb as any small mistake, we look like zombie!!
Guys with full hairline are easier to barb with different hairstyles...

It's really hard not to have been a victim of such as a guy especially at certain stage of your life except you are those who outrightly emphasize on the skills of the barber before he begins but even at that, it takes one or two icky experiences to make one cautious of such.

My experience was almost about 2 decades ago while I was in JSS 2 in a boarding school. Even though the cost of getting a haircut in the closest salon was just N50, I opted to visit a fellow boarder staying in another hostel who uses razor blade and comb to cut people's hair at the rate of N30 probably out of greed or Childishness not realizing that the so called barber was just being over rated and is only good at giving people with roundly shaped head a good looking cut.
That was how I went and sat down in his front, he did the job and gave me a mirror to confirm his work. When I looked at the mirror, I wasn't comfortable with what he did there and I told him to at least correct the curve he made in my forehead because I don't have a roundly shaped head like most of his clients. This guy kept craping the curve on my forehead until he successfully made me looked like a young tortoise.
It was after we went on break and came back to school that a friend of mine said he met the guy as an apprentice in one of the villages he visited during holidays.

I was like whattttttttt! So this guy was just using people learn his trade in a coded way?

It happened to me some years back.
My regular barber relocated, I had to locate another barber and that was how my head was almost relocated from my neck.
It was so bad that The guy finished barbing and started telling Bros sorry no vex multiple times

Same with me. I nor know which kain breeze blow me that day. I just decided to allow the apprentice cut my hair because the barber was cutting someone else's hair.
To cut the long story short, I was an object of ridicule to people around for weeks until the hair grew back. I learnt my lesson!

I've had one nasty experience with an apprentice after I changed barbing salon because the former barber travelled out of naija

So I went to there shop beginning of this year

I knew he was an apprentice but no time to wait for the main oga
I told him to barb me a decent mohawk hairstyle after all my pep talks he was acting Soo attentive like he was listening, he starting pretty well from the front side, then he went to the sides and gave me a decent cut

Then to the base/back of my head, that was where the trouble started

He was barbing same spot for over 5 minutes I nearly cried till I started complaining that the heat from the clipper was affecting my head,

Then he started apologizing that my hair around that side was too soft and he mistakenly barbed me skin there


Las Las he offered a solution (to barb me a hairstyle called 3 steps)

I agreed, for one week I had to endure side talks from people saying that I look like an abandoned tortoise

Long story cut short, he refused to learn after many years and the oga dropped him for always making him lose customers

Mehn just yesterday one guy destroyed my hair
