The Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, who is also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria SAN has called for disciplinary actions against Lawyers that try to blackmail the Supreme Court into taking decision in their interest.

Keyamo made this known after the Supreme Court accused the CUPP of engaging in campaign calumny.

He wrote in a tweet, "Enough is enough. The legal profession is still regulated by the highest ethical standards. If any lawyer is found to be amongst those who consciously seek to blackmail the S/Court by threats or wild & unsubstantiated accusations, he/she must be dragged before disciplinary bodies.''

Keyamo also stressed that there should be punishment for those who are not legal practitioners but also seeking to blackmail the Supreme Court.

The Minister wrote, ''For those who’re not lawyers who publicly seek to blackmail the S/Court to do the bidding of their own political party, for their own selfish interest & in the guise of seeking for their subjective justice, the law regarding contempt of court would be FULLY activated against them."
