dads and mums are heading back for their degrees. Age should not be a hindrance if over 30 to 40 years adults are heading back to school out of a lifelong regret, dream, loss and shame of not having the degree.

imagine being reminded and remembering every day for the rest of your life, that you dont have a degree.

even when you want to live in peace, other nigerians will disgrace you and remind you.
if circumstance pushes you to get a job, you will be treated no better than the cleaner, all cuz of degree.

lets speak truth.

You're right.

I was withdrawn from the university after my 300 level due to administrative issues, which was partly my fault. I have been depressed for over sometime now but thank God finally it's all in the past now.

Presently, I'm preparing to write jamb again and apply for either of medicine and surgery, pharmacy or medical laboratory technology . my question is what are these courses like?

No use crying over spilt milk. I too willingly, intentionally dropped out of Uni... at 400l, computer science. Refused to go back to school for a few years. Then agreed to school in ghana. No jamb required. Just waec. Before I blink two times, I'd finished 2.1.

Are you ready to face studies this time and ignore distractions a.k.a. social life, and endure whatever crap the school system throws at you? If you know you won't, don't waste your time and your parents' money. Learn a trade. Be focused. And in 5 years you'll be a millionaire when others will be wearing khaki or looking for job.

BTW: From your write up, it feels like you aren't self disciplined enough to go approx 8 years of medical studies. You know what? Go talk to at least 3 doctors. Ask them about university and if you still want to do it after that, go for it.

Bro, I wouldn't advice you to go to school in Nigeria or forever self. School is a precious waste of time and resources.

To be financially free in this country, you need a hot skill in demand (woodworks, plumbing, electricals, building, digital marketing and programming).

Since I left school, I never see work. I decided to learn digital marketing (facebook ads, instagram and google ads)..Today I'm cashing out.

Make we leave all dis nonsense white collar job that salary can't barely take us home. Wise up !!

Following your options, it seems you have interest in healthcare. Honestly medicine remains one of the best courses to study as a science student. With this in mind, I suggest you apply for medicine in an affordable/low tuition fee university in Europe. Admissions are easier than you can imagine and tuition fees are reasonably cheap in Europe. Remember your focus should be on what you are passionate about and the reward you stand to enjoy after the program. I wish you the best. I'm available for assistance.

Bro let me tell you part of my own story.. I dropped out too in 300level because I didn't like the course I was doing and it led to accumulation of poor grades and I and the university decided to call it quits... I channeled my depression into studying for jamb and I got admitted into UNN to study pharmacy which was what I really wanted... you too can succeed, don't compare yourself with others or let bad energy take control of you. Just work hard and Pray to God..... for the courses,, I am a new Pharmacy student, I can speak for Pharmacy very well but I would advice you go for the one that u know you would enjoy and do well in .. Medicine is good too, and So is medical laboratory Science.... not technology.. they are two different courses

Those that are out are yet to get employed

Someone who has been there once is still planning on going back in

What's wrong with you guys...making money for same government making life difficult for you and you in turn call them names for embezzling the money

Am not saying going to school is bad but if you reached the point of knowing how to read, write and express yourself in English that's EDUCATION ENOUGH....going further for certificates or what ever they call it means nothing as far as Nigeria is concern....you all been running from the real world by choosing going to Nigeria school to get certificates after certificates but the truth is after NYSC you still go back from the world you ve been running from...and the worst part to it is that by the time you finish the school the economy might be worse than it is today...and you will have VERY VERY LITTLE or NO CHANCES OF SURVIVAL AT ALL.
The way some of you reason ehn!

Op, on what grounds were you withdrawn from school Is it on the grounds of poor academic performance or other reasons?
If your withdrawal is not on the grounds of poor academic performance and you're sure you are mentally and financially fit to study those courses you listed up there, please never mind what some fools are typing here, take another JAMB form and apply for any of those courses. However, you have to brace up to WORK HARD because those courses are not like your normal BSc courses. They are very demanding especially pharmacy and medicine! I'm typing from experience!

For those implying that going to back school is a waste of time and that op should go and learn trade, I think they are typing from the point of ignorance! Some courses like the one the op listed are structured to impart practicable knowledge to professionals who study them, and it is very rare for one to graduate from those courses and not have a job or know what to do to create jobs for themselves.

You guys should stop this mentality that it doesn't matter the course one studied in school, it does matter o! I did a first degree in a science course before going back to school to study one of the courses op listed above. I can boldly tell you that the knowledge gap between graduates of those courses and some other courses are just too wide! If you finish those courses, there's no way you'll not have something doing! No way!!

However op, if you know you're not mentally sound enough, please you may need to consider learning a trade or skills because you need to be academically sound to study those courses.

Likewise, I dropped out of school while in 300l in the year 2003. I gained admission in 2007 and graduated in 2011.

I was really irresponsible during my first sojourn in University. This contributed to my withdrawal.

At the second time of asking, i was really serious with studies. I became really close to God and by His grace i graduated with a good grade.

Presently, i have a thriving business; I'm married with three kids. And I'm almost done with my masters.

Your can make it through this stormy phase in your life. If i could, then you can.

Do a little research so that you know which course to choose.

Trust in God. Commit to your studies and watch out how He will turn your life around.

Goodluck!

This is the best post I have read today. If only the OP would listen to this very good advice.

OP, choose Pharmacy or Med & Surg.
Take note both are tough, so you have to sit up.

I know a guy who finished studying botany as far back as 2011, can you believe I saw his graduation pictures on Facebook just yesterday. He just rounded up Med & Surg. I'm sure he's nearly 40 already.

So what I'm trying to tell you is, there's always hope if you're blessed with patience and determination.
Of course, you have to have finance sorted out for your studies to go hitch free.
