1] PDP's 16 Years - N41.21trn
2] APC's 6 Years - N40.17trn

PDP
1999 - N299bn
2000 - N702bn
2001 - N894bn
2002 - N1.06trn
2003 - N1.45trn
2004 - N1.19trn
2005 - N1.6trn
2006 - N1.88trn
2007 - N2.39b
2008 - N2.74trn
2009 - N3.05trn
2010 - N4.4trn
2011 - N4.7trn
2012 - N4.9trn
2013 - N4.99trn
2014 - 4.96trn

APC
2015 - Passed in April 2015 N4.4trn
2016 - N6.06trn
2017 - N7.4trn
2018 - N9.12trn
2019 - N8.92trn
2020 - N10.33trn (Proposed)
Source: Budget Office, NBS, Chidi Cali 's archives, CBN.
These data are original figures and did not consider changes in interest rates, inflation (purchasing power), exchange rates.
N40.17 Billion Budget includes the Proposed budget of 2020 and I did not consider indirect taxes on Nigerians like Bank deposit and withdrawals, Fuel price increase (tax), Abacha loot refund, World Bank and IMF refunds. The Current debt profile of Nigeria is N25trillion and will be N31.02Trillion by end of 2020.
These exclude about N9.33trillion the Buhari's govt borrowed from govt trust, Investment funds like the Pension.
This rising debt profile of Nigeria confirms the reckless squandering attribute of the present govt and their over-invoicing and padding of contract fees.
Nigeria has Never got it this bad.

You have to considered the exchange rate as well.

The Chidi guy is sure very ignorant. He probably thinks macroeconomics is like the little balance sheet he keeps.

What he should do is assess the value of these figures against the dollar, then tell us in dollar terms, how much was spent.

In addition, demographics should be factored in as well, not to mention security challenges.

This isn't as simple as ABC, it is far more complex than this.

Exactly what I was saying. Even though I'm a scientist, basic knowledge of economics from secondary school is enough to make me understand the comparison is totally flawed.

The estimation of the respective budgets is directly proportional to current exchange rate and economic status.

The statistics is not borne of ignorance.
The source is there.

But the sentimentality that reeks of disdain associated with the last paragraph is what you should direct your criticism to.

You don't get it.

Here's how to make such a comparison.

Evaluate the dollar equivalent of the monies spent under pdp with respect to the exchange rates in those years.

Take whatever dollar value you arrive at and calculate the naira equivalent with respect to the exchange rates under the APC years, then compare.

That's how you do it.

You also must factor in %age population growth. Your budget cant remain static with an increasing population. Ordinarily, the percent rise in population must correspond with the percent rise in budget.

It's obvious PDP are the people who destroyed this country. It's a wonder how the figure kept increasing from billion to trillion under their watch.

Mind you, I'm not trying to compare the two governments. No!

I'm implying that the statistics gotten is a function of the exchange rate with respect to dollars at that particular period of time of the two Governments.
To arrive at that statistics, they had evaluated all the above that you mentioned before making it public.

My opinion is that you should not attack the statistics, but rather you should redirect your invective to the OP for comparing the statistics and using it as a criteria for criticizing this government.
It is very irresponsible of him.

A talk about Population in your last paragraph...
When was the last census ??
And this government has spent about 6 years.
I think population should not be brought into the picture for now.

Yet no improvement of any sort in infrastructure, social amenities and livelihood. Add this amount to increased IGR and TSA(which curbed embezzlement from govt institutions and parastatals)... Now I arrive at the conclusion that PDP was corrupt but APC is corruption exponentially multiplied.

#40 trillion in 6 years is still on the high side, exchange rate and population or not. If you factor in the variables, you'd see it.

Conjectures arent applicable in this situation. The data is available. Do the math and tell us if you imagine the factors are insignificant.

Don't forget, throughout those 6 years, the budget performance especially in revenue generated compared to expected is just about 60 percent.

Using the average exchange rate between 1999-2015 for PDP and 2016-2019 for APC, in just 6 years in government, APC has spent about 53% of the 16 years budget of PDP.

Well, it's much better to set realistic goals.
With 76% of the budget being on recurrent expenditures, and budget implementation at 60% (90% of which would be on recurrent expenditures), barring any miracle, we should know what to expect next year already.
If the government can't find a creative way to generate new streams of revenue, at least, they should cut their expenses.
