In the Nigerian context, no one can be the indigene of a place he settles unless he conforms and adapts to the pre-existing culture he met in that place.

Hausas cannot be indigenes of Jos and this has even been settled in the supreme court. Had it been Jos even shares boundary with Hausa land, then Hausas could have a reasonable claim, just like Kaduna.

Kaduna city originally is not Hausa land. It is Gbagyi land. But it is just at the edge of Hausa land (Zaria). This is why nobody drags northern Kaduna city with Hausas anymore.
