These are indeed tough times for Nigerians. Considering the alarming rate at which prices of common goods are going up, government and multi-nationals are, in addition to the huge profits they generate, squeezing the juice out of the meagre income generated by the vulnerable citizens.

we struggle to live our lives.
we buy fuel to power our generators.
we pay bogus estimated electricity bills for darkness.
even those who receive salaries, inflation and increase prices of goods have rendered them hopeless.
Every time now they will just sleep and wake up and introduce a new tax.
Kuku kee us.

I received no such sms but just yesterday, for a 200 naira worth of airtime from MTN I purchased through UBA, I was surcharged 48 naira. Not until now did I fathom the reason for that deduction. Chai !!

the charge for your account balance details is from your bank,MTN will now charge its customers for using their bank USSD code for transactions(airtime, account balance, transfer etc).

MTN won’t be the first network to do this. They are just following the footsteps of other networks, the banks are the guilty party here.

It is not just about the apportionment of blames. But more about the realisation that the end users, (you and I) have often been at the losing end of these charges.
At the same time, we must observe that these charges do not emanate from vacuum. A GOVERNMENT policy which makes businesses pay more than the usual, often ends up with the final consumer bearing the blunt.

Actually, USSD as used here doesn't mean dollars.
it means Unstructured Supplementary Service Data. sometimes referred to as "quick codes" or "feature codes"

Wow, in this economy? With increase in VAT?
It is well.

As for me, I am exempted from such charges because I don't recharge from my bank account.

Instead, I make use of an e-wallet from a notable Telecom company which even pays me commissions back for any airtime or data that I buy for myself or my loved ones.
So bottom line guys, instead of me getting a charges left right and center for just buying 100 naira airtime, I get commissions back which is very encouraging.

Ok, the name of the company is Recharge and Get Paid, licensed and certified by NCC and CAC as a VTU Telecom technology company since 2015.

In this world, it's all about getting the right information and opportunities. I'd like to help anyone get started and stop wasting your hard earned money on nonsense charges.

Re: Mtn Introduces New Charges. by Davola123(m): 4:41am On Oct 20, 2019
Lol..it's bad news, but you don't have to be affected by it.

Instead, use a VTU platform that even gives you commissions back on purchase of airtime or data.
