Sis Yetunde walked hastily into the buzzing Lagos traffic. She wanted to get to the nearest bus stop as soon as possible. She had a lot of files to attend to in the office and she just wasn't ready to waste anytime ;that was why she decided to go by a local bus popularly known as "molue", a commercial vehicle instead of going in her car. She didn't want to get stuck in the hold up very much typical of the busy Lagos roads.
As she approached the bus top she bought a newspaper from a vendor, clutching it tightly against her chest, hoping to read it in her office during recess. Sis Yetunde had heard of many strange occurrences that morning ;series of news about mysterious kidnappings and presumed disappearances of people.
"It isn't strange anyway, it's a sign of the last days". She thought aloud to herself as she alighted at the next bus stop close to her workplace and walked down the driveway, humming a tune.
She had hardly sat down to begin her work for the day when Ada, her secretary knocked on her door.
"Yes, come in". Yetunde said looking up.
"Good morning Ma". Ada greeted genuflecting as she walked in, looking puzzled. "A lady is here to see you ma, her name is Sis Kene". Ada said.
"Let her in"Sis Yetunde replied.
It was sis Kene, Sis Yetunde's prayer partner in church. It had been long since they met last as sis Yetunde's promotion had increased her workload in the office. Their weekly prayer meetings were now sparse, if ever held. "I have to put in my best following my promotion at work and besides, God understands", She would say anytime she was confronted about her nonchalant attitude to the things of God.
"Sis Yetunde it has happened!" Sis Kene shouted, panting heavily and pacing up and down. She was holding her. scarf in her hands with her handbag flung on her shoulders. She was dishevelled.
"What has happened?" Sis Yetunde asked jumping up from her seat and ran close to Sis Kene who was now crying dejectedly, stamping her feet on the floor. Ada was bewildered, a frightened look pervaded her face.
"What has happened sis Kene? Ada what has happened?" Her voice had risen now. Sis Kene only shook her head and screamed louder, startling Ada who spread her hands to show that she couldn't make out any meaning from the whole scene.
Then as if remote-controlled, guided by instinct Sis Yetunde returned to her table and reached out for the newspaper she bought earlier that morning. She read the headlines:
'Millions disappears mysteriously!', 'Pilot disappears, plane crashing, killing millions'! 'Government sets to intervene as panic engulfs the entire populace'.
Sis Yetunde screamed and ran out of her office. She returned and picked up her phone, dialing her pastor's number, she wanted to be sure it was all a joke. It rang and rang but no one picked it. She tried Mummy Tope's line too, the pastor's wife but it wasn't picked either.
"Oh Lord I hope I didn't miss the rapture! She screamed and woke up. She was sweating and panting heavily. "Thank God it was all a dream". She said aloud heaving a sigh of relief.
She pointed her torchlight at the wall clock, it was 3:20 am. She knelt down by her bedside, ruminating over her life as a christian. Recently, she had begun to pay less attention to the things of God, her promotion in her workplace had delegated more responsibilities to her while God was at the bottom in her schedule. She hardly had her quiet time these days and her prayer life was in shambles. Money was a must get and a lot of things had really gone wrong!
She lifted up her voice and wept like a baby, reconsecrating her life to God and with that resolute and determined faith she asked God for grace to serve Him fully, without following the Saviour from afar.

The certainty of Christ 's imminent return can't be over emphasized. If you're a sinner it is time to confess your sins and accept Jesus into your life. There's no repentance in the grave.
If you're a born again christian cleave to Jesus and never give room for frivolities and mundane things which have no eternal value. Let's not follow Jesus from afar. Let's follow Him fully. He's the ultimate.
