Following nullification of the election that brought Emmanuel Uduaghan to office as Delta State Governor by the Court of Appeal, a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has vowed to work against his return to Government House, Asaba.

Besides, the group, led by elder statesman and former Federal Commissioner for Information in the First Republic, Chief Edwin Clark, has also invited the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to effect Uduaghan’s arrest for the purpose of prosecuting him for allegedly depleting the state treasury while in office as chief executive of the state.

Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja, Chief Clark said the PDP would lose the election in the state if Uduaghan eventually emerged as its governorship candidate in the re-run election.

He listed series of alleged sharp practices carried out by Uduaghan, whom he said was imposed on the people by his cousin and former governor of the state, Chief James Ibori, to cover up his misdeeds in office. At a crowded press briefing attended by prominent members of the Delta State Elders and Leaders Forum, at his Asokoro residence, Clark said the judgment of the Court of Appeal was God’s answer to the people of the state who were denied the opportunity of choosing their governor in the 2007 general elections.

He told Journalists that a letter would immediately be dispatched to the anti-corruption agencies, to pave way for the arrest and prosecution of Uduaghan, whom he alleged was involved in the massive looting of Delta State’s treasury during the administration of Ibori. in court.

Clark also lauded the Appeal Court for the judgment which ousted Uduaghan, saying “a Daniel has arrived.” The Ijaw leader also recalled that the April 14, 2007 governorship election in Delta State was characterised by mass rigging and other forms of electoral malpractices and concluded that there was no election.

He said, “Ibori deliberately and criminally imposed Uduaghan on the people of Delta State to cover his misdeeds. Since then, politically, Delta State has not known peace. But God has decided; God never wanted evil in Delta State.
