Have you ever thought that the heavy traffic in Lagos State Nigeria can be tackled?
Well, a research was recently made by a Young Talented Graduate Civil Engineer, his name is Osho Taiwo Horshman. He analyzes the root causes of the problems and also analyzes the ideas that might tackle the heavy traffic in Lagos state if they are being adopted correctly.

The researcher did well in carrying out a survey based research however certain information were missing. Information such as Population size, sample size, sampling techniques were ignored. The researcher did well in identifying the problem and proffering solutions to the menace. His or her contribution should be acknowledged and noted by Lagos state government and other relevant stakeholders. I want to believe that the moniker AutoReportNG is reading this same with lalasticlala and Seun. Seun should look into ways of bringing back the lost glory of nairaland. It would be a thing of joy if the super moderators such lalasticlala Mynd44 push this to front page. Except they want to prove otherwise as insinuated by other monikers on their attitudes towards moving interesting topics.

He has a point but the primary cause of congestion in Lagos is the design of the roads.

Even if the roads were smooth and devoid of pot holes, and there were no tankers or broken down vehicles or street trading on the roads, there will still be congestion.

The roads are too narrow to accomodate tge number of vehicles and assume that ALL vehicles are going in one direction to the same destination.

Because they do not make allowances for the drivers that will turn into side streets on both the left and right. The roads should be designed to have a designated neutral middle lane for those who want to turn left and right into side streets.

Then at major roads, a turning lane should be created near every exit that can accomodate at least 8 cars that want to turn right.

Meanwhile there are 3 or 2 dedicated straight lanes for those who are going continuing straight ahead.

Ill come back and draw an illustration to explain what i mean.
