Eko-Atlantic Marina District

The Marina District of Eko Atlantic will be adjacent to the Harbour Lights district. It will have views of the ocean from one side and of the entrance to the port of Lagos on the other. This area will extend over 1,154,500 square metres and its water surface will be 76,677 square metres. The planned building plots within the Marina District will be 5,500 square metres and the average building height will be 70 metres.

Many of the buildings within this huge development will provide homes for residents but it will also be a centre for leisure and social activities and is expected to be popular with tourists and visitors.

A promenade will surround the Marina district and will be 18 metres wide, acting as a viewing platform for the whole area and providing plenty of opportunities for pavement restaurants and al fresco dining.

This is a welcome development. Completion of the promenade that surrounds the marina will make the place a major tourist attraction. It will become an alternative spot for fun and leisure for Lagosians. The promoters of the project should also look at revenue opportunities in aspect of holiday resort and leisure.

Tourist attraction ke! can't you see all these signs of trouble?

1 Original loan was taken at N165/$. Anybuyer who took a loan to acquire land or currently want to acquired on might have to pay in dollars which is not getting cheaper.
2.No new development in six years still trying to sell an expensive dream.
3.Someone is sitting on a boatload of gbese, or property valued way out of rich of the Nigerian economy. Going by historical trends, thing might not get better
Someone designed that Marina not thinking of refreshing the marina with sea water, not the water is stagnant and rotten that is why it will be black full of algae

In spite of the adverse economic situation of the country which has obviously slowed down the progress of the project, the potential of the project to generate huge revenue for the promoters in the aspect of tourism and leisure is undoubtable. A holiday resort (with casino and all that), an events arena and shopping mall could be built around the marina. The initial plan can also be altered by building an international golf course in the city.

You are wrong on your claim that the marina water is stagnant. It is linked to Atlantic Ocean trough two different channels; the long waterway from the western end of the city and the other entrance facing the Apapa wharf (near the alpha 1 tower). There is also another waterway that will link the marina with the phase 2 of the project (the eastern marina). which will also link with atlantic ocean . Rome was not built in a day!

My brother, the man standing beside you will smell the stench stronger when you shit for bodi.
We are in 2020 and the current government end in 2023, No single building over 3 stories, will be completed by 2026!
The same building you have since things stalled in 2016 will be there in 2026, no be curse but reality of economic squeeze.
The loans taken in dollars/N170 and spent on that location to be paid back at ~N450 means the original plan and cost estimates almost tripple with the existing 8 year delay not even accounted for.

That's not true, The water is not stagnant, It's connected to the Atlantic ocean, You can see it from Tarkwabay if you have ever been there!!

I will add a picture of where it's connected soon!!

I understand what you meant, the channels are connected, but what I meant is they may not a a rate to refresh all the water to counter an algae bloom in the Marina.
