Cape Verde – An Amazing Destination To Explore by TifaTravels(m): 5:21pm On Nov 06, 2019
Some countries are widely placed on the map, even heard most by both travelers and not so frequent travelers, that they are beautiful destinations; they have so much fun to get in there. For example, the US, Italy, Dubai, Singapore are some of the destinations any tourist can recommend to anyone to travel to. This destination is no-doubt shapely leg down into the waters of the Mediterranean.

Cape Verde is perhaps fair to say, is not one of these countries. It hides in the mid-Atlantic, a 10-strong cluster of islands which, born of volcanic fury, are as beautiful as they are mysterious.

Let your gaze drift down Africa. Look to the left flank of the continent. Go down through Morocco and Mauritania until you find Senegal – then drag your vision 350 miles to the west.

Jutting up from the Atlantic, some 500km west of Senegal, this stunning island chain has a captivating blend of mountains, beaches, and peaceful seaside villages. On Santo Antão, craggy peaks hide piercing green valleys of flowers and sugar cane, ideal for epic hikes

Whether you’re looking to relax or you’re seeking adventure, Cape Verde has something to offer. The stunning set of ten islands is home to a huge variety of beaches, hiking trails, delicious local cuisine and more, meaning that there’s plenty for everyone to enjoy. So no matter what it is that you’re looking for, you should start planning a trip

1. HIKING ON LAGOA DO FOGO
For those who think that they can conquer any terrain, there is the Mount Fogo for them to hike. Grab a good pair of boots and get ready for the adventure of your lifetime. This is where you would see Cape Verde’s highest peak. This mount raises shyly out of Chã das Caldeiras’ ground, an ancient crater that last erupted in 1995 and it is still an active volcanic spot.

2. JET-SKII IN CAPE VERDE
The waters have become a haven for those who love jet-skiing. Of course, if you have never tried this water activity, this may be the perfect time to learn how to ride the waves like a dared devil. We must remind you that hundreds of tourists come to Cape Verde for this purpose.

3. JUMP IN THE VIANA SAND DUNES
Not far from the airport in Boa Vista, you’ll find some pretty amazing natural sand dunes which pretty much offers everything you’d expect to see in the Sahara itself, apart from camels. Good fun for kids of all ages!

4. GET AN OVERVIEW

You can see the whole of Boa Vista in less than a day, and if you take part in an organized tour, you’ll be taken to the famous shipwreck Santa Maria, then whizzed off by a 4×4 to the Santa Monica beach which is the island’s most spectacular stretch of sand.

5. APPRECIATE THE MARINE LIFE
Many species on Cape Verde exist nowhere else in the world. The variety of marine life that can be found in the waters surrounding the islands is particularly astonishing; so far scientists have cataloged 639 species of fish including mantas and whale sharks and more than 17 species of whale and dolphin, including the humpback whale. Marine turtles can also be found, as the islands are an important feeding area for five species. The highest levels of marine biodiversity are around Boavista, Sal, and Maio, which share a marine platform. Various locations across the islands also offer whale watching trips and turtle tours.

6. TASTE THE LOCAL DELICACIES
No trip to Cape Verde would be complete without trying out some of the local cuisines. By doing so, you’ll not only be eating some delicious food, but you’ll also be giving something back to the locals. Fish lovers, in particular, will be in heaven as the grilled lobster is superb, as are the fresh tuna, octopus and a multitude of other delicacies.

No African country has the same types of foods. Cape Verde would leave you asking for more meals that are sumptuous and healthy. The local joints can be the best place where you would get the real taste of the people’s food at an affordable rate.

7. CATCH SOME WAVES

If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, many of Cape Verde’s beaches are also great locations for surfing. Thanks to the warm water and large swells, Cape Verde’s reputation as an international surfing location is steadily growing. The most famous island for surfing is Sal, where you can hire a board and catch some waves at Ponta Preta beach – a long, classic right-hand reef with 200m rides.

8. EXPLORE THE SHIPWRECK-STREWN OCEAN
How does it feel to explore the lava tubes or even the floor of the shipwreck-strewn ocean as a diver? This thought alone can attract thousands of divers from around the world. You can make use of the different diving companies in the town of Sal for your diving passion.

9. EXPERIENCE THE 4×4 ADVENTURE (QUAD TOUR)

Stop at Serra Negra viewpoint, from where you have an amazing panorama of all the south part of the island and if the weather permits you can also see Boavista island. Enjoy crossing the desert and make a stop at the Palha Verde oasis. Take your time and appreciate the Ponta Preta, the most beautiful beach of the island, at another stop.
