Is the call for his resignation a mere political statement or a requirement of law that any person appointed into any government office must resign in order to contest any election?

Atiku had nothing to lose because he had been elected as governor so even if PDP lost and he didn't become VP, he would have still been governor which is even more important and powerful than office of VP.

With most PDP supporters urging Akpabio to resign as minister and contest, I will definitely insist Akpabio sit tight as minister and work for the whole of Niger Delta.

The fact remains that the cabals who have squandered the resources of NDDC wants Akpabio out of the Ministry.

Akpabio as minister will serve all of Niger Delta. Being a senator will only serve his constituency.

He should resign n contest because his political life should not stop as a minister. He might be seen as a coward if he fails to contest because he has boasted dt he won d election n besides, he may also be compensated by his party if he loses because he is a big fish for APC in naija delta. Of a truth, Apkabio has shut himself in the foot.

. I agree with you on this but you and I know that the registered votes stands at 23,060 which is still below the difference between him and his opponent. Let him not even put resignation into consideration or else he will lose on both sides. If this happens,both Akwaibom and the entire south south might loose out completely in the politics of Nigeria. Him being the minister for NDDC is a big plus for the zone in general.

They did not make any noise out of the ordinary. He was simply invited to prepare for the rerun and one of the requirements for such preparation is to resign any government appointment. If he chooses to resign and contest, is it PDP that will appoint another Minister for that ministry? Is it not still the sitting APC government that will appoint another APC member assuming Mr President does not reserve it for him in case he is not successful in the rerun election? What is your problem really? Is he too special not to be told to resign?
