You are actually right about the points you raised, save the last. Ever since Lukaku left, Rashford has taken the #9 role. In fact, he had morphed into a striker even in Lukaku's last season with Manchester United.

Rashford has been Manchester United's top striker this season [and for beyond]. All the talk about getting a striker was centered around getting a support for Rashford in that role, and that was why the names being mentioned are largely aged strikers [Mandzukic and co.].

That said, the issue with Rashford is: he is a decent footballer with a great technique at hitting the ball and a great pace. He is tenacious too. However, his dribbling is not very good, in sharp contrast to Martial who can easily beat an opponent with his tricks. So Rashford wasn't so great a winger. He relies solely on pace to get around opponents. Now, playing as #9, he has a lot to do in the area of positioning and movement, these are areas Abraham excels at. Abraham is more of a natural striker [#9] than Rashford is and I don't really see Rashford getting ahead of Tammy on goals.

Tammy has had 25+ goals in a season twice, howbeit in a championship side. His decision to take up the #9 shirt is testament to his confidence and mentality. He will go very far. As a striker, he isn't in the same league with Rashford.
