Human Rights and Lead Counsel for Endsars campaign, Abdul Mahmud has said President Muhammadu Buhari is not interested in trying incarcerated SaharaReporters Publisher, Omoyele Sowore.

Rather Mahmud said he want to stall the trial process and keep him as his trophy.

He said this in a series of tweets on his official twitter handle.

Recall that Sowore was arrested in the early hours of Saturday, August 3, 2019, after announcing his plan to stage a nationwide protest tagged #RevolutionNow.

Sowore was subsequently flown to Abuja where he has been detained.

The refusal of the DSS to release Sowore as ordered by the court, has prompted nationwide outrage and protests at the agency’s headquarters.

The DSS on Tuesday, November 12, assaulted some protesters who were demanding Sowore’s release.

According to Mahmud, who is part of the Sowore legal team, said attempts have been made to commence trial without respect for the procedural rights of the accused persons.

He said, “It sheer folly for anyone to think Sowore’s legal team, comprising 3 SANs- Falana, Fusika & Adegboruwa- and other senior counsels- Mahmud, Ogunye, Aborisade, Yesufu, Yusuf, Kazeem – and 7 other young counsels- don’t understand the law and practice on bail.”
