Appeal Court Judgment: Ibadan Chiefs Urge Makinde To Keep Focus by nairapark: 11:07am On Nov 15, 2019
The Council of ?badan Mogajis (Chiefs) has urged the Governor of Oyo State, Mr Seyi Makinde, to keep his focus on the service to the state despite the controversy caused by the ruling of the Court of Appeal on the petition filed against his election.

The mogajis, who paid a solidarity visit to the governor in his office, told the governor the people of Ibadan and, by extension, Oyo State were in support of his effort to develop the state.

A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to governor, Mr Taiwo Adisa, quoted Mogaji Abdujelil Adanla, who spoke on behalf of the chiefs, as telling the governor, “Your mandate cannot be tampered with or stolen.”

The mogajis present were Abass Oloko, Kobomoje, Olasomi Ademola, Elekuro; Adanla Jelili, Oko-Are; Ifalere Fagbenro, Oke-Odo; Musibau Dada, Dada-Adeoyo and Olawale Oladoja, Akinsola, Labinran Quarters.

The statement said the mogajis displayed placards with inscriptions, ‘Say no to colonialism in democracy,’ and ‘Our mandate is not for sale,’ among others.

Makinde appreciated the mogajis for their support, adding that the mandate that the Oyo State people gave him could not be stolen by anybody.
