Anytime I talk about going for Ford products with different people, they all advise me not to go for Ford due to faults and inability of most mechanics to fix faults in Ford vehicles. It makes me wonder if Ford is that bad. At least we see FORD on our roads everyday and they are doing good unlike Honda products you always meet kneeling on the road with shaft issues most times.

My love for FORD FOCUS RS grows everyday.

Truth be told.

Ford is good and you can go for it if you have time and money to spend on maintaining it.

Don't ever plan of giving the ford to just any mechanic to work on but reputable individuals or companies.

I have used a ford focus. Great car. Best car I have used. With proper and timely servicing I didnt repair the engine for once.
Only worked once on the legs due to bad roads which a good kazeem will do.
People only run from Ford's cars based on hearsay. You never know about something until you try it.

It was a 2009 Ford focus. I regret selling.

The maintenance is quite top notch but I went over a year and half without any major repair other than the servicing.

Great to hear that, plus the condition you met the vehicle before buying it is also a key factor.

Ford edge is also good but make sure you thoroughly inspect whichever ford edge you want to buy. Also do your research to know the year of Ford edge that has been reviewed by users to be problematic.

Here's a quick story. Trust me small, it makes sense.

I once bought a 200pounds music making software for someone as a gift. They called me back to say that it isn't working and made it feel like what I gave to them was useless.

Needless to say, the music software has been used by many big names and more than capable of producing studio grade songs. I think the big issue here is that the person got no clue but won't admit it and blame the software instead.

When people talk about ford, I think it is a bit like that at times. Some of our mechs trained on a different type of method that perhaps need upgrading to cope with the new tech we see in cars over the past 10 years. Their inability to upgrade their knowledge or expand their knowledge base about certain car tend to lead to the claims that "X car is bad" (in this case, Ford)

My brother's ford (escape) from 5 years ago or so is still going strong (although, he buys the part from UK when he needs servicing and probably uses the car like 2 months max in a year)

I think ford makes cars that are brilliant and affordable. They own a lot of brand and even share engine design with Volvo I believe for the XC 90 (which is considered reliable)

As with all things, not everyone is going to be a fan of have something positive to say about it. I respect that.

I personally think Ford cars are great. Is mostly hearsay and lousy technicians and mechanics in Nigeria.

I have used 2012 explorer in past and regret selling it for Toyota.
I just acquired another Ford few days back.
Use proper fluids, oem parts and ur Ford will serve u well.

Great consumption. I use 4k every week to and fro work with A.c. on and ikeja traffic.

Nothing absolutely wrong with FORD vehicles. They are absolutely fantastic and that is why you have been seeing their population grow on the roads in Nigeria.
the problem with most Nigerians is that we love to adhere to the advice of quacks over professionals.

FORD vehicles especially the 2011 -present year generations are fantastic.
There are simple normal rules to using FORD vehicles:
Do not give your ford car to a technician that isn't a FORD/CHEVROLET specialist.
Never listen to anyone that tells you to use another engine or transmission oil not recommended by FORD for servicing. always use the recommended oils....always.

Bro you See, these things boils down to individuals. Though engineers will give you mechanical reasons why a brand is better than others, you might also see such reasons yourself(I know my BM is more luxurious and has a better engine than the ford)

For example I have a colleague, she can afford top range cars however is sticking to Peugeot 505, she has about 2 of them.

sir, the one i had was brought brand new in Lagos from coscharis by the first owner. he used it for about 76000kms and then sold to me. first owner always did all maintenance at coscharis lekki workshop (he showed me all proofs). i bought and used for approx 10,000kms within Lagos environs only. mine was serviced and maintained at Gazzuzz autos Lagos. i didnt face any major issue in those 10k kms except some bushings replacement for rear. do not expect very great fuel economy but its decent enough for a V6. Vehicle is really luxurious and comfortable and had some functions which its competitors of same age doesnt have. I sold it for more recent toyota suv but highly regret my decision.

Yea. I love to explore. People advised against it. All in all its a great ride.

Ford is a great car to own as am currently used 2014 focus and it has been a nice experience. Fuel economy is excellently perfect like my former corolla. My only experience was that bolt joint is together with camber.ln all is a nice cat and is serving me well
