Were You Sexually Abused As A Child? Please Share Your Experience

Today is the International Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse. Child abuse is the maltreatment of a child physically, sexually or psychologically (emotionally). We are focusing on sexual abuse of a child.

What is child sexual abuse?

Child Sexual abuse is:
* any sexual act between an adult and a minor, or between two minors, when one exerts power over the other for sexual gratification or financial gain.

* forcing, coercing or persuading a child to engage in any type of sexual act

* non-contact acts such as exhibitionism, exposure to pornography, voyeurism, and communicating in a sexual manner by phone or internet

* exploitative use of a child in prostitution or other unlawful sexual practices

Child sexual abuse is in two categories:

* Non-touching abuses: Exhibitionism, exposure to pornography, taking photographs of children in a sexualized manner, voyeurism, communicating in a sexual way, such as through telephone or the internet, and letting down the walls of privacy so that the child watches or hears sexual acts.

* Touching abuses: Kissing, handling, MouthAction, vaginal or anal intercourse, or attempted intercourse.

IF YOU WERE SEXUALLY ABUSED AS A CHILD, PLS SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE SO THAT OTHER YOUNG PEOPLE, PARENTS, TEACHERS, CAREGIVERS, ETC CAN BENEFIT FROM THE INFORMATION AND USE IT TO PREVENT ANY KIND OF ABUSE.

You can also share with us at TOTALCHILD CHILDREN AND TEENS NETWORK. We are a non-governmental organisation that works with children and young people to help them fulfill God’s plan and purpose for their lives. We work through service provision, informational sharing, capacity development, mentoring and participatory community development.

PLS NOTE: THE MORE PEOPLE ARE INFORMED ABOUT CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE, THE FEWER VICTIM THERE WILL BE. So share your stories inorder to create more awareness. Silence is not golden.

I was not abused as a child. I am just an advocate for child right. I am a man that was fortunate not to be abused as a child. I had my own fair share of trauma growing up as a child but it was not sexual abuse. Mine was emotional and physical abuse which resulted in low self esteem that I am still battling with. Pls if you have any experience of child sexual abuse, help share. It will help to create awareness and prevent it. You might just be saving a life by sharing your own experience.

Op you really don't want men to talk about the sexual abuse suffered in the hands of grown women. Let's just forget the stories.

One Aunty use to call me "my husband" when I was around 4. She would take me in to her room and ask me to suck breast* while she sleeps.

She thinks I've forgotten about this but surprisingly, she added me on Facebook. I'm just looking at her, if she tries it now, I'll dent her kpekus!

I'm actually the one that abused someone undecided

So terrible. It was even my younger sister embarassed

That fateful day, I don't know what came over me. embarassed She just finished pooing and she told me she's done. And I got water to wash her. That how I placed my hand on her anus and was rubbing it while pouring water on it until the poo was washed off and I stopped.

What an abuse! And the sad thing is I did that many timesembarassed

...... and today the news about how a child abuser and sponsor of child marriage bill is dreaming to become president of Nigeria surfaced. A coincidence?

The system here is against children with raping here and there.

.........and When Yerima become president children will go extinction as they all become wife of mallsm paedophiles.

The topic says "child abuse", so I wonder why the OP and other commenters singled out sexual part as if that's the only child abuse that exists.

How about women who turn their maids into objects of beating while they worship their own children? How about parents who give birth to 7 children and are unable to send more than 3 to school, but believe that one of the children may become a president one day? grin Sad and funny.

Let me share oluchi's story .

She's about 16 yrs ,staying with her distant aunt.

Whenever i go to buy fruit from her aunt's stall , i meet oluchi with fresh wounds and this particular repulsive body odour .

As her friend , i tried advicing her to atleast take her bath once a day but her reply threw me off balance .

"My aunt won't let me bath " , she said .

I pitied her but there was nothing i could do .

Funny thing is , they don't let her go to sch and she's very passionate about learning .

The last time i saw oluchi was when she was stark naked on a public road with her aunt raining abuses on her accusing her of seducing her husband .

It wasn't true ofcourse . But her aunt had to tear her clothes to put her to shame .

She was sent to stay with another aunt after enough face damage and humiliation .
