IgbereTV reports that Dino Melaye, the PDP Candidate for the Kogi West Senatorial rerun election in Kogi State has stormed the Headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to express his dissatisfaction on the conduct of the Saturday election in which Dino Melaye had reported incidences of violence and malpractice against him, his party-PDP and supporters.

According to results from INEC, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Smart Adeyemi, scored a total of 80,118 votes while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate, Senator Dino Melaye, scored 59,548 votes.

Dino Melaye provided Video evidences of his claims together with a petition to the INEC National Commissioner and Secretary saying that the elections should be cancelled as he claims it was marred by violence and malpractices

Dino Melaye posted the news on Twitter. He wrote:

National commissioner of INEC Festus Okoye and Secretary of INEC recieving my petition today with 21 video CD's documentatry evidence.

Helicopter election can not stand.

He's just wasting his time, they wont do anything about it. The pictures from the election that I saw is enough to cancel the election, anyway this is Nigeria.

I think he's just trying to play it safe you know, at least keep some evidence of misconduct with INEC before heading to court, so they(INEC), wont claim ignorance. That election was a mini civil war. Wish him luck though.

Mumu Dino, how can INEC cancel an election result that has already been declared?

The right thing to do is to approach the tribunal after the election has been fully concluded and a winner announced. INEC is not a court of law so he should keep his video evidence for now till the case gets to the tribunal.

I think he's just trying to play it safe you know, present evidence of miscounduct to INEC before heading to court, just incase INEC wants to claim ignorance. What happened in Kogi is a mini civil war, and i pray the court rules with all fairness.

Given the level of court judgement in today's Nigeria I wish him well.
