Every day at the set of dusk We set out in search of livelihood For we have no other time of day But night to satiate our appetites. Nature was cruel to us As it formed us to inhabit the dark And so when humans sleep Then does our day begin. We are unlike other creatures For we were created tiny to go unnoticed With a song on our lips to announce our presence And a pin of a mouth to extract our meal. The sleeping humans are our best bet As they make harmless factories For our much desired meal. We sing our songs Which tells their state of consciousness Then pierce their flesh To get their heavenly nectar. There's always the need for caution As this simple act of survival Could result in our sudden death.
