The north will do everything/anything to keep Nigeria one because they know what would happen if the South are cutoff from them,

Without oil money -
Imagine where they will get the billions to fight and defend themselves against bokoharam the Islamics terrorist

And some people here on nairaland are claiming that Nigeria is poor because we don't pay taxes.

With all these oil wells we're still the poverty capital of the world and some people say our problem is not paying tax!!

oil money is nothing??

So how much tax is something? Please give me an estimate of the expected revenue from tax that'll service 180 million people.

Am average Nigerian need to pay like 150k tax a year ...that would come out to be 27 trillion ...instead of the 3.5 trillion we make now ...plus customs n oil 30 trillion is sure ...federal takes

15 trillion ...pays civil servants 3 trillion ...we have 11 trillion ..2 trillion to pay debt servicing

We have 10 trillion for capital projects ...in 10 years 100 trillion this would fix all our infrastructural problems , educational problems

By just paying less than 15k per month

Taxing is cheaper in the long run if u look at it

lol, an average Nigerian have to earn 100K a month to pay 12500 as tax, hahahaha...brotherly.

Ok let's say you'll depend on businesses to make up for the shortfall, how many business opportunities are we creating and are making profit right now?

Do u know what's average ? What's nigeria GDP/capital ?

If you make 50k and can't pay 15k for your future and that of your kids you are not serious

That's is meant to affect the rich more ...if I make 50 million I pay 15 million that covers for over 100,000 poor Nigerians ,they get same benefits I get ...that's how tax is used to distribute wealth

The ones working would pay the tax then ...I wonder why a poor man is afraid of tax ...our GDP per capital is over 700,000k the people who made it this high would balance the people who earn below it

Taxing Favor's the poor , at the end of the day the upper 20% would pay over 80% of the tax

But in. Nigeria fear and ignorance makes the poor reject tax

Thats collected can't even pay civil servants in a month ....so without oil we can't survive ?

We pay 100bn a month in tax that's nothing na ,wage bill is around 200bn a month

The truth we need to tax at least 25% of our GDP if we are to make progress ...right now its around 6%

How much tax did u pay last month ...I paid zero naira
