Sometimes it is a matter of choice. The japanese yen would have been even stronger than the strongest currency on the list if they wanted it so. Their economy is strong enough for that.

If they do that, they will export less products compared to their rivals (South Korea and China). Nigeria doesn't need a strong naira.

Either the restaurant is an expensive one or the job role of the individual is for an experienced staff or the location is an expensive place. These factors should be considered before stating "some restaurants pay 50 dollars per hour".
