Where was that established? You are just spinning rumor. I bet you have not read the charges against mr onyema or you are just being obtuse.

He is charged for funneling money that was supposed to he used for purchase of aircrafts into accounts of companies that the US suspects might be a shell company. And forgery of letter of credit.
Those are the allegations so for nothing has been proven in the court of law . The case will go to trial, all mr onyema need to do is hire the best American lawyers and prove that those companies are not shell companies and that the Letters of credit was authentic.

Its not as big a case as it sounds, it's just because of who is involved. And so far I am not pleased the way he is handling the case.

He is charged in Georgia USA and his lawyers are speaking from Nigeria! Really by now a law firm in the state of Georgia should be speaking on his behalf not some Nigerian lawyer with some weak language.

Very true.
He should hire a competent legal team... he will be on bail while the case is ongoing. Companies in US face such issues on a regular basis, they allow their legal team do the work. I want to believe Mr Allen Onyema his doing his ground work.
Nigerians and the Fg should stop this media trial.

Say you have some stolen money. You are getting nervous as police are sniffing around . so you want to get it out of Nigeria. You cannot carry it physically.

So you give it your businessman friend to do

I will start from the beginning

Onyeama said he was going to buy planes wuthn20 million dollars.where did the 20 million dollars come from? This is a pertinent question because it cannot be income generated by air peace. The margins in aviation are meager, especially when he is not the only player. You use 20 million for capex, what is left for opex?

https://simpleflying.com/air-peace-expansion/
According to this article, the company has been running at a loss all this while. 3.3 million dollars losses last year

In addition to this, businesses expand with bank loans. Or capital from partners. There is no way to explain how he got the 20 million dollars he was going to use to buy the planes.

Going back to what I said, assume he actually had the 20 million dollars. Will buying new planes increase air peace bottom line? The number of passengers is shrinking due to the economy. If you buy a brand new 2019 corolla for Uber, are you going to charge more than 2013 Tokunbo corollas? Will people patronize you more because you have a brand new corolla? Unless someone has made a firm commitment to you, buy these planes and we will engage you.eg Mobil says they will lease your plane to fly staff everyday from Lagos to akwa ibom. And if that happened it would be in the news. Simply put, it is an illogical investment, considering the aviation industry. You will get broke fast.

What the authorites are saying is onyeama created a company in the US, a briefcase company, that he owned and That he gave a contract to supply him planes. He then sends that company 20 million from Nigeria. Once the company in the US gets the money,it starts disbursing the 20 million to numerous personal accounts of onyeama.

So what onyeama has done is he has used his business in Nigeria to move money to the US on false pretenses.that is a classic money laundering maneuver. Some people belive it's patience Johnathans money. You read how the fg is seizing 5 million today, 2 million tomorrow.

Like a lot of Nigerian businessmen, onyeama has no history of organic growth. If you go to Google, you can trace the histories of apple, Microsoft, dell, etc. you will see a very nerdy looking Jeff bezos .Air peace started 6 years ago. Where did onyeama get the capital?

Now all these questions will be asked

Below is a more concise description

This is the most sensible post I have read on this thread. Anybody arguing outside the above will come back to eat their words. When the FBI says they investigated a matter for 8 years, Nigerians think it is like EFCC. These guys have a water tight case. Nigerians will be too shocked when our guy will plead guilty or opt for plead bargaining. In either case he will go down and his business will down, to be hijacked by some other powerful interest.

To set the ball rolling the presidential aide on social media was reported to have tweeted that Mr. Onyeama go to the US to face trial/defend himself. What does that tells you?

In order to save the airlines image and allow it to run freely during the period that the fraud trial of the two individual will last in the US courts,
The best thing would be for the its chairman and CFO Allen onyema and Egahaga to step down from their roles in the company pending their clearance from court of all corrupt charges.

Mr onyema who is a patriotic Nigerian that has created many jobs for Nigerians and West African and loves his people should allow that love for country to drive him to resign and save the company reputation from fraud until he is cleared from the allegations which I hope he will be cleared.

In the meantime his wife is the Vice chairman of air peace, she can take over as chairman and another person can take over as CFO of the airline pending their clearance.
This is the standard practice worldwide. If this is done it will in the meantime save the airlines a lot of trouble as they can open fresh business account in the USA devoid of signatories of people facing financial fraud charges in the US courts.
This will enhance the operational efficiency of the airline.

Mr Onyema and Egahaga would now use the time away from the daily demands from the airline operations to focus squarely on the case against them.
By setting up a top US criminal defense team made of US lawyers, not the ones that am seeing making weak statements on Nigerian media.

This case might likely take a while for the trial to be concluded, so to save his company during this trial period, he should do the honorable thing by resigning as that will not be an admission of guilt but a strategic move to save Airpeace.

Once that is done the fraud case will now involve former Air Peace chairman and former CFO thereby creating the needed seperation for the Airline.

Why are you guys in a hurry? If you have another facts pls kindly provide us. While some of us still waiting next line of action by parties involve.

No doubt.

I've noticed Nigerians don't like organic growth and often cheer on the dubious in the society.

Little wonder the country is the way it is.

My thoughts even with political space. Grow the party organically and watch it chase away all these dubious characters from the political landscape.

This is the case in a simply language:
He was given letters of credits because he is going to purchase some part for his aircraft to the tune of 20 million. If not there is no law in the US that allows you to just walk in and deposit such. Before then he had other accounts opened. when the money landed instead of purchasing the part he transferred 16 million to these other accounts belonging to him one way or the other. Now these are the way big wings in the criminal world transfer money and is it called' money laundry', a crime. The onus is for him to prove it was not laundered, but i think that is impossible from what is on ground. In nigeria the bank/banks could come also under investigation, too with regards to the letters.
