Their plan is similar to India's custom hiring centres whih increased Mechanization among farmers. If farmers can rent out these machines for cheap rates they will increase yeilds and save money. It was reported by PwC that Nigeria could be self sufficient in rice through mechanized farming.

Too much talk. This Same thing is being said by any new Agri minister. My take,: Set a target for business farmers that 10 hectares should be the yardstick to be called a commercial farmer. Assist farmers in land preparation, because that's where you know if a farm will do better or not including mechanisation. Nothing will happen differently from this current system ogf things without good land preparation |

He assured that the ministry would continue to support farmers with rice millers, yam, wheat, maize, etc, to produce more to meet the nation’s demand. The government needs to call it quits with wheat. The policy have has failed. Wheat imports are more than rice imports I think. |
