Reverend Father Malachy Asadu Kidnapped In Enugu by Abdulazeez99: 11:30am On Nov 26, 2019
Another Catholic priest, Reverend Father Malachy Asadu has been reportedly kidnapped in Nsukka, Enugu State on Monday.

Fr. Asadu, priest of Nsukka Catholic Diocese was kidnapped along Imilike-Nsukka Road while he was said to be returning from a diocesan meeting held at Thereasa Cathedral, Nsukka.

The State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of the clergyman.

Police spokesman, Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the kidnap incident on the telephone on Tuesday said that details of the priest’s abduction were still sketchy.

Amaraizu, however, said police operatives have since commenced a manhunt for the hoodlums with a view to securing the priest unhurt.

Meanwhile, the kidnapping of Father Asadu had brought to nine, the number of Catholic priests kidnapped in Enugu State in eight months.

Hmmmm. God please provide him protection and never allow peace in the life of the kidnapers.

Enugu state is due for security CCTV cameras at strategic places. In addition to having an independent IT sophisticated security.

Its funny how some uneducated forest guards and vigilantes are always looked up for issue of security whenever we want to complement police efforts. Why can't a city like Enugu run an independent intelligent security system?

The security of Enugu state should be paramount in the mind of any right thinking Igbo man. We need an aggressive and independent security network to secure the city. Ugwuanyi is trying in the area of security but more still need to be done.

Meanwhile, the kidnapping of Father Asadu had brought to nine, the number of Catholic priests kidnapped in Enugu State in eight months.”

Two deductions can be made:
1. The average kidnappers have seen that it is a lucrative business to kidnap catholic priests maybe because they got better ransom from the previous kidnapees.

2. There is someone (or groups) within the rank and file of the Catholic Church in Enugu that has made it a duty to always engineer the kidnapping of several Catholic Church priests whether for his own (group) grievances or for monetary gain.
