12 Unbelievable things the media will never tell you about RONALDO...
Many times Cristiano Ronaldo was criticized for being an egomaniac, another time he was criticized for being too selfish on the field of play. How many times can we count when he was considered lesser of a player behind his arch-rival, Lionel Messi. Most times, it seems the media tend to focus more on the weaknesses of the Portuguese man. Today we'll consider 12 Unbelievable things this man has done that may not have appeared in the the media or be publicly known. Please, let's get started!
1. He shares his bonuses
Ronaldo has on many occasions been reported to have donated some of his match bonuses to charity organizations.
He, for example, in 2013, when he was named in the Uefa Champions league team of the year, received 100,000 euros as bonus. This bonus was earned through his exceptional play on the pitch and he did not spend it for his personal usage, instead he donated the money to the Red Cross.
In 2014, he also donated the bonus of 450,000 euros he got from Real Madrid wining it's 10th Uefa Champions league to the 3 charities to wish he belongs as an ambassador.
2. He sold his Ballon D’or
Cristiano Ronaldo in his generosity with a charity heart, directed that a replica of his Ballon D’or be auctioned, raising a whopping fund of about 530,000 pounds for Make-A-Wish Foundation. That is quite an audacious and generous of him.
This Charity organization he donated to are in charge of taking care of children with life-threatening diseases and terminally-ill children.
3. Relief for disaster victims
Apart from donating to charity organizations, Ronaldo is also very nice to the point that he donated a huge amount of money in 2015 to the victims of the earthquake in Nepal which occurred in April 2015. The earthquake took the lives of 9,000 people, injuring around 22,000 more.
In addition to this, is an unverified report that the Portuguese superstar contributed 5 million pounds to the children disaster relief fund. Though the charity organization denied it. He likely made the donation.
4. Donated to help the sick
In 2007, Ronaldo’s mom, Dolore Aveiro was declared cancer free having won the battle against the deadly disease. The former Manchester United super star decided once again to show his generosity by supporting the care center that took good care of his mom by donating 120,000 pounds to it. That’s quite much, you will say, but that just goes to show how generous he is.
5. Accommodating on and off the pitch
As a football star, it is not unlikely to see occasionally, pitch invaders and loyal football fans trying to nick a photograph with their favorite footballer at all cost. It is not different in the case of Cristiano Ronaldo. But whenever approached, does he chase them away? Of course, never! Rather he always create room and time for them to have a selfie, sign autograph among other things. On many occasions too he has stopped the pitch invaders from being punished by the security. What a wonderful regular gesture from him!
6. Helped a young fella
Below at number 10 you will get to read about how another young boy was helped by Cristiano Ronaldo with his health struggle. Before then, let’s consider another occasion when Cristiano did not hesitate to help once the opportunity to help presents itself. In 2014, a ten-month-old Erik Ortiz Cruz who was terminally sick needed an urgent help. The mother contacted the five times Ballon D’or winner for financial assistance.
The child was suffering from the deadly disease called Cortical Dysplasia which makes the child suffer up to 30 seizures a day. Upon hearing the story, The bianconeri forward paid 55,000 pounds for the initial brain surgery and also promised to cover the cost of any follow-up treatment should there be a need. He also further helped in raising fund for Erik by donating signed kit to sell at auction.
7. He truly cares
Aside financial help or assistance, Cristiano Ronaldo have many times showed that he cares. For instance, during a UEFA champions league match, Cristiano Ronaldo’s ferocious shot hit a young boy and the pain of the hit made him cry. Ronaldo, realizing what had happened leapt into the stand to console the crying boy by giving him his training shirt.
In another event, during a pre-season friendly at the Vitali stadium with Bournemouth, one of his fierce free-kick shot flew into the stand thereby hitting another young lad named Charles Silver-wood, this time breaking the young man’s arm. Ronaldo responded by apologizing to the boy and compensating him by giving him his shirt.
8. Helped his friends
In a world where many forgets their friends easily and even the ones who does not forget their friends, finds it difficult to assist their fellas. Cristiano Ronaldo seems to be different, as many of his friends have said many good things about him.
Jorge Mendes, his agent, for example, named Ronaldo his best man when he married Sandra in 2015. Ronaldo also rewarded his friend wonderfully well with a beautiful Greek Island as a wedding present. The island is said to be valued as the time around 40 million pounds.
9. Helped his brother
Ronaldo’s Dad died in 2015 and a contributing factor to his death was his addiction to alcohol which he batted to break away from. Cristiano Ronaldo’s elder brother, Hugo Aveiro was already stepping towards that direction before Ronaldo stepped in. Ronaldo promised him that if he can stop his addiction, that he will dedicate La-Decima to him. His brother broke away from the habit and Ronaldo fulfilled his promise by dedicating the La-Decima to his brother. His brother shared an emotional hug with him at the full time of the match that won them the La-Decima.
Hugo who is 10 years older than Ronaldo has now become a popular figure beside Ronaldo, always appearing at Ronaldo’s events regularly. More to that Ronaldo appointed Hugo to be in charge of Ronaldo’s Museum at Madeira and Ronaldo is the god father to Hugo's son. So next time you see Cristiano Ronaldo praising or congratulating himself, just remember how much he helps with such celebrations.
10. Showed love to a young fan
This is the sorrowful part as mentioned in the headline of this article. It happened that in 2009, there was a 9-year-old boy with a terminal cancer disease. The ex Manchester United super star became aware of the boy’s predicament and out of his generous heart, decided to step in and help the young lad. Ronaldo requested that a driver convey the boy and his family to the hotel of resident of the Real Madrid team as at that time.
He dedicated his goal to the boy named Nuhuzet and also invited him to watch the football match in his private box in Santiago Bernabéu and after the match, he blessed him with is shirt. Ronaldo also footed the boy’s health bills for many years before he unfortunately passed away in 2013. What a
sorrowful ending!
11. Repays past favors bountifully
A very good example of him repaying past favor was what he did this year. Ronaldo, not long ago, revealed how he was regularly being given burger by 3 women then, when he and his friends were still in Lisbon. After the search went viral, one of the 3 women was later identified. Paula Leca came forward to say that she was among the 3 women, adding that Ronaldo was a timid boy in those days. Ronaldo has promised to take Paula out for a dinner either in Turin or Lisbon as a way of showing his gratitude for what the women did for him. Ronaldo clearly doesn’t forget past favors. What a man!
12. Helped former players
Lastly in this article is the story of Ranger’s legend Fernando Ricksen. In 2013, he was diagnosed with a terminal illness called Motor Neurone disease. Ricksen was wheelchair-bound and relies so much on caregivers to do anything, of which his wife is the one providing such care. When Ronaldo became aware of the condition of the former Netherland international, he invited him and his family via social media to a match at Real Madrid home in spain. After the match, Ronaldo presented a shirt to the Scottish title winner after a Uefa champions league win over Legia Warsaw in October 2016.
No doubt, every football fans have their own favorite player who they love so much, but a deeper look beyond the surface has made it clear that, no matter how much you think you know about a player on the field of play, there are thousands other amazing things you’ve not yet found out about him. I must admit that in the course of writing this article, I have learnt a lot about Ronaldo than I was ever aware of.
How about you, what will you say?

I concur, but
1. even though he sold his career to charity it will not make him the best.
2. He is an enemy of progress.
3. Winning another ballon d'or is like SDP winning presidential election in nigeria.

Waiting for The Acts of Messi before comparing and contrasting the personalities of both players. This generation should be more grateful for having these two GOATS at the same time. Even Pele and Maradona came in different generations. Therefore Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi owe the world the Experience of watching the two of them play together in a team, possibly in a charity match in support of Fair Play and Anti-Racism in football between a World All Star team and World champions France. This will go a long way in establishing a ceasefire between their supporters and let everyone remember it is just football after all.
