Just like it is to everyone, the compulsory National Youth Service is a worthwhile experience. From the beginning the hurdle was weird and bizzare but to the Glory of God who does things in his own special way it is a memory to withhold. with the help of some notable individuals and organisations it was an opportunity to impart on the lives of people of our host community. the following projects became a success.
2.1. Workshop/Sensitisation on How to Choose a Career in G.D.S.S Bula.
Took place on Monday 29th July 2019 in G.D.S.S Akko. Attended by the Principal, staff and Students of G.D.S.S Akko as Beneficiaries, The L.G.I Akko Local Government and 4 Corpers.
Aim: This sensitisation was organised not only to give direction to students but also to remind Teachers and Educationists one of there important responsibility.
Beneficiaries. 200 Students.
2.2 Donation of 5 Office Tables and Chairs to G.D.S.S Akko.
The Idea on this particular project was through the needs assessment carried out through a chat with concerned stakeholders therefore Principal and staff of G.D.S.S Akko who lamented that the lack of adequate office tables and chairs for staff is a challenge for the staff effective teaching and carry out it's other responsibilities.
Aim: To supplement the inadequate number the school has.
Beneficiaries: G.D.S.S Akko.
2.3 Skill Acquisition/ Empowerment on Liquid Soap and Air Freshener Production in G.D.S.S Akko.
Took place on Monday 29th July 2019 in G.D.S.S Akko. Attended by the Principal, staff and Students of G.D.S.S Akko as Beneficiaries, The L.G.I Akko Local Government and 4 Corpers.
This particular project was necessitated as a result of the fact and reality that unemployment has become a major bane of the Nigerian State which has a pool of unemployed graduates toying around the street in search for white collar Jobs.
Aim: It is aimed at empowering young secondary School students with the requisite skills and knowledge on how they can become self reliant through the production of liquid soap and air freshener which are daily necessities. This can also help there parents to reduce domestic cost expenditures that comes with daily buying of soap and air freshener.
Beneficiaries: 300 Students and Staff
2.4. Quize competition among selected primary schools in Akko L.G.A.
The quize competition took place on Friday 2nd August 2019 at Akko Primary School With Three primary Schools representative and there Headmasters, Some Members of the Community, 4 Corpers, The L..G.I Akko L.G.A and a gentleman of the press from Amana radio FM to cover the event which was later aired in the evening News.
Aim: The aim of this particular exercise is to improve the quality and standard of teaching in primary schools in Akko L.G.A.
Beneficiaries: All participating Schools which covers over 500 Students.
2.5. Award of Scholarship to 30 outstanding and Indigent Students in G.D.S.S Lawanti.
This project took place on Wednesday 31st July 2019 in G.D.S.S Lawanti. It was attended by Dignitaries from SUBEB, The Hakimi of Lawanti and his Council Members, The principal, All Staff and Students of G.D.S.S Lawanti, 3 Corpers and the L.G.I Akko Local Government including parents as the day also commemorates the schools speech and prize giving day.
Aim: This project is aimed at promoting academic excellence and improvement in the efforts of Students as they will continue to strive for better performance. The first set of Scholarship was awarded to 15 Outstanding Students who came First, Second and Third Position in the concluded third Term Examinations.
The second set of the Scholarship was awarded to 15 Indigents most of which are ophans and always find it difficult to pay there school fees.
Beneficiaries: 30 Students with a turn over of motivating and stimulating all other students to strive for excellence.
2.6. Visitation to Christian New Convert Orphanage Home Tumfure.
This Project Marks the completion face of the Corper David Terry Aduka' Personal Community Development Projects. It took place on 17th August 2019 at Christian New Convert Orphanage Home (CNECOH) Tumfure, Akko L.G.A Gombe State. The project was attended by The children of CNECOH, Some Staff, 2 Corpers and The L.G.I Akko Local Government.
The fact and reality that all of us are potential Orphans is an opener to remind us of the fact that there are people that need our help and support so as to contribute In providing assistance.
Beneficiaries : Over 200 Orphans.
