As long as we run a presidential system of government, youths will hardly smell power until they themselves get to a certain age and the cycle continues.

From Austra, to Canada, to Ireland, New Zealand and now recently Sweden, if you notice the pattern, countries that have youths as their leaders run a parliamentary system of government and their educational system is not as long as ours. The mentality of a 26 year old student even if he is doing Msc is going to be different from a worker fending for himself at the age of 20.

After the successful "not too young to run bill", the next target should be to force the system to adopt and start running a parliamentary system of government. Although many people believe that the coup of 1966 destroyed the federal system of government at that time which is now popularly being called restructuring, the main thing that was killed in that coup was the parliamentary way of running the government.

The major advantage of a parliamentary system is not even that youths can run but that it is inexpensive and so only serious people really want to be in government which means that serious minded youths can also make themselves available. It will reduce the huge INEC bill every 4 years, will reduce the killings during elections, reduce thuggery and enhance real governance that is people driven. For a greedy set of people like Nigerians and perhaps Africans in General, the parliamentary system is what can favor everyone.

It will also be far easier to push for a parliamentary system of government since it will favor all the regions than for anyone to get restructuring.
