LAGOS—One of the largest restaurant chains in the largest economy in Africa keeps running out of chicken. Its name is Chicken Republic.

In recent weeks, Nigeria has been in the grip of a run on chicken—a culinary conundrum since chicken and rice is the most popular pairing in Nigerian cuisine.

Johnny Rockets ran out of wings. Mr. Bigg’s, a chain of chicken shops, has closed branches because it couldn’t source drumsticks. KFC branches are boasting that, unlike their rivals, they have a steady supply of their most important ingredient.

In this country of 200 million, some of Nigeria’s most recognizable pop and movie stars have issued statements expressing the anger of consumers.

Buhari's Administration is Incompetent. If He did his Job and diversified the economy, then why is Nigeria not producing enough Chicken and Rice. He is trying to make our neighbours the scape goat but he needs to look in his economy policy failures, his illiterate cabinet and administration and his incompetent party. Rice was usually an outside dish sold by Iya Fatai, Ewa Agoi a special dish sold by Togolese or Ghanaians.

Black beans used for Frejon on Good Friday with fish.

Otherwise, Rice or Jollof Rice on Sundays.

Nigerian stable was pounded Yam or cocoyam. Tuwo in the North. Most Southerners eat the same food cooked differently. After all, most of them came from the same family.

Actually, believe it or not, Cassava Gari was imported but century ago from South America. Ijebu folks, sorry o!
